Grow Style Indica vs Sativa

Whats up roll it up,Happy Sunday,I guess what I'm asking is when you grow an Indica does your technique or style differentiate from when you grow a Sativa.The reason I ask is I found that it was more difficult for me to grow a Sativa than an Indica and I am talking Indoor grows. I've only been growing Indoor for a couple years so I would like to hear what you master gardeners have to say am I crazy or do you find that it is more difficult also,and your reasons why.Thanks for taking the time to humor me........and school me

I know with my first grow i bombed a cpl stativas the wanted to over grow my grow space after the switch i had to tie a few down i also had heat problems and my buds looked like wheat that didnt stack together the calics separated and i basically ended up with really crappy shake so now im affraid to grow it lol but id like to know as well whats the deal

mine pretty much did the same but not to that extreme,the buds were pretty fluffy,but the worst of it for me was that the buds were bending over the branches so I had stakes holding them up along with a net,it was just labor intensive having to do that every other day.I had fans in the tent but maybe i should have had them blowing harder.I am really hoping one of these growers can maybe enlighten us.How bout it guys, is it really that much more of an art to pull off a sativa grow or maybe it is just a bad pheno,I had cloned it and have her outside now she is right around 4 1/2' and 3 or 4' around and it looks like i will have the same scenario but now I can trellis it so it shouldn't be too much of a pain in the ass

I havent grown one indoors- but i am vegging one atm.

Outdoors they do grow tall and lanky. Yes, you will need support. You will need patience as they do take awhile to finish. Yield i think is lower per sq meter compared to an Indica.

Worth it? Yep.

Some people just have no idea what they talking about! Sativa yields more outdoors and indoors and grows bigger period. Sativa is more a energetic high indica couch high. The only difference to me is sativas usually take more nutes than indicas

Its all I've ever grown. This is the first time im growing Indicas and my wife is still spun out by how thick the leaves are on them..lol.

Per sq meter indoors I believe you get more from a indica but there are many different styles of grow and many different strains so it's pretty hard to compare IMO. I've seen some massive outdoor sativas but also some indica as well. Again it's pretty hard to say one yields more than another I would think.

Once you understand the way they grow, size wise and can flip them to bloom without them getting too tall (then supercropping helps). You've gotten over one hill.

They can be more fussy about the ratio's you feed them. Like someone said. They can be heavy feeders, or be wanting less N then others. It's all in learning how to see what your plant is telling you. You then tailor your ratio's and environment to that plant's needs/wants, or "dialing in" if you will. I have sativa's, or sativa heavy expressing cross's, running right along side some Indica's. I simply mix my feed solutions as I go, and for the plant's needs. Be sure your adding enough micro's in your feeding....if it's not in your base nutrients... Kelp extract is a good supplement to add for growing sativa's.

As far as environment....I run at a set temp and RH that is controlled to about 4 deg. and 5% RH of variance. 72 F and 45 % (summer RH)....

If I'm running a pure or landrace sativa. I'll run the temps around 75 F and a bit above. They seem to like that little bit higher set point for better results. They (buds) seem to loose some quality at lower 70's over just above the mid 70's. Yet in many cross's that run or express high sativa. I don't see that higher 70's as needed.

Sativa's run large, so they run large root systems too. I like bigger pots for the more "pure"/landrace sativa's.....I find I have less feeding issues with them in bigger pots.

Support is an issue with them over Indica expressing strains. So break out your favorite support methods and do it...not a big "problem" and with a little love they repay you so well.

identical grow here and I flip the sativas earlier and flower longer=only difference

ever grow the pure sativa called Dr Grinspoon?

Can anyone tell me maybe why mine looked like wheat growing i know i had a bad heat problem at that time i was in my attic and at some points i was over 100 degrees and at that time my lights where just t5s and they where veg lighting couldn't afford flower bulbs at the time and the buds seemed to seperate and stretch out they where long buds too just never came together and very hairy seemed thats all it was, was hairy probabky answerd my own question but has anyone ever seen that happen

High temps and low light "intensity"..

Increase your lighting power and control the temps.....

I've grown it, and if ur looking for high yields, it's a practice in frustration, but it has a unique 'head high' that some feel is worth the effort.

agreed, so the statement "Sativa yields more outdoors and indoors and grows bigger period" is false
not to mention the broad stroke on Indica is a couch high shit. I got indicas that will put that girl in the ER lol

Yeah it was my first grow i should get back into stativa the smoke is vicious i have better lights this time around and tents too any suggestions on a stativa strain for the newbie growers

Ive always grown Aussie Blue/ Australian Blue outside. Its not a full Sativa but about 90%.

Its an old school stone with a lot of leg. Pretty easy to grow.

I've got what I believe to be a hybrid. Short node spacings with pointed leaves and a good two months maybe a bit longer flowering time.

Got to get her to fill out a 2 foot square before I'll consider the flip. Recently had a flush. As the medium was too hot. She seems to still be growing well.

I wouldn't say sativa yields more period.it really depends on conditions.ive only ever grown sativa until last year and from my experience they differ from plant to plant genetics wise.granted you can grow a tree using sativa with bulk veg time and let her grow crazy out doors but indoors I would say indica will yield more in the same space as a sativa simply because sativa is so leggy and indica is so dense. And correct about the high generaly they are less couch lock but I would say the most paralysed I've ever been from weed was a sativa my old man grew.

That that thing looks dense as nugs. Every plant you show is low and dense how do you do it? Bulk topping?
