What set up are you going with on your COB light? Pre built or DIY? What watts?
I really want to get my hands on DIY. And build a set up to cover a 4x4 foot print . (12) 3590's 3500k
Check your lease agreement, just to be sure.

I would go much smaller than 600 watts if you have a shared breaker. I don't care how blind your landlord is, he/she is going to notice a $100/month bump in electricity costs.
even if he notices that bump, it wouldnt be something that serious.. All my apartment applications are already all electric . the blind part is just funny

guys i posted this thread for help. not debbie downers
Unless you pay for the electricity in that garage I seriously wouldn't grow there not even sure if it's possible. Imagine the lights and any plugs are on a house circuit (paid for by the landlord) mostly for lighting and the breaker is probably low like 20 amp. If you do grow and somehow don't trip the breaker with your fans lights pumps and what not the landlord will defiantly notice his power bill spike and start looking for the source.
yes our garages our paid seperately.

Honestly, we are just trying to look out for you but if you wish us not too that's ok as well.

Cheapest solution IMO then Is 4x4 tents. Low amp light like COB's. Try and keep amp load under 10 total and run lights in the night to avoid Joe I wanna build something blowing a fuse when he is working in the units if they are the same circuit.

I wish you nothing but success and good karma honestly. I just don't want you getting rammed or liable for anything is all.

For sure , I don't mean to be rude either but . I know there is answers and I know I want to grow . And yes a 4x4 cob set up seems ideal now that I have all this info !

Unless you want everyone in your complex to know you are growing, use a tent. You will never be able to seal up the garage door and keep the smell from seeping out and through the walls. Have you ever been around some nice big girls in flower? Another thing that comes to mind is the temperature situation; how will you cool that space? Last time I was down in SD it was hot. Some things for you to consider that I didn't see mentioned yet. Good luck and welcome to the legal states!

You might have to make these mistakes, to learn from them. It is how many of us have learned. But that said... I wouldn't invest any money into this location if I were making this decision for you. One sniff of your operation will get you robbed and this location is too open.
Grow them in your apartment, learn how to grow, then branch out. Why you rushing bro?

Well if he is using a known location that people here called out already, he may want some secutitas.. Insurance is your friend.
Yeah this is so dumb. You've posted your exact location. Forget about the grow ! How dumb are you to post you're in San Diego then a picture of the freeway and color of apartments along with 3 digit numbers. Not to mention that would be the worst possible place to try and grow, just flat out stupid. People pass through there all the time, all it takes is one curious person. Youre going to get robbed or end up in jail. Just passed your apartment this morning doing some work, when is harvest coming so I know the exact time to lift up the garage and rob your ass blind.

Yes, a 600 watt rig + accessories is going to bump the electircity up about $100/month with SDGE. If that's not a part of your bill, then whoever is paying it is likely going to notice.

how do you get in and out of the garage without being seen, the neighbours will want to find out what your doing in there when they see you go in and shut the door behind you, also those up and over doors do you no favours, how are you going to get water in there ?

i do pay my own electricity with my own sdge acc?
I thought you mentioned the garage being on a separate panel?

Either way, I'd still go smaller than 600, just to deal with summer temps and all of the related air movement necessary. With that garage closed up all the time, it's gonna get warm in there. If it were me, and I were just doing it for personal smoke, I'd go no bigger than a 4x4. I'd probably lean toward a 3x3 or 2x4 though, which would still allow you to use the garage for storage. 300 watts of cobs in the 2x4, or 400 in the 3x3 would do just fine, keep temps down, no AC necessary, low start up cost, etc.

These are all valid things to consider as well.

Well for water. Im planning to throw in a 100 gallon water tank or so. Yes the garage door is my biggest issue, now that im certain to grow in a tent. My worries are possible eyes seeing the tent in my garage.
