Get a thermometer and monitor the heat and a humidity meter to moniter the humidity. Then make adjustments to change the levels to optimum (i.e. exhaust, dehumidifier, humidifier, heater...).

when you decide to buy fans for your tent get the biggest ducting that will fit your baffles then get fans the next size up with reducers to fit the ducting add speed controller for two fans and your sorted, the fans will run quieter as they arent being run at full speed and they will be more than adequete to deal with the hottest summers and the coldest winters thanks to the speed controller, add a thermostat into it and its automated just leave it to do its thing. takes all the hassle out and gives you perfect temps constantly.
plus if you ever decide to enlarge your op and get another tent chances are the fans could be run on a splitter and cool both tents :)

Mine are not dead yet, there is a few tents out there that do produce toxic gases, like the hydrohut. I think the pvs frame doesn't help either.

Hmm I was thinking of buying a darkroom but I'm not sure now since heat will be a problem.

Dude I have my darkroom outdoors under the sun, the highest temps I've had were mid 80's(on a hot day). As long as there is good ventilation your good to go, I highly recommend this tent, it's worth every penny.

I bought a hydrohut type of tent a while back before this grow started, and when i began everything was fine for about 2 weeks, and then my plants started to slowly yellow, and start do die. I took the vinyl off of the frame, and replaced it with mylar n panda film, and the plants INSTANTLY perked back up n got better. Its the TENT dude, not the heat.

Basically what it is is, there are only two machines that make pretty much ALL growtents being sold today. One machine Makes HydroHuts, and some generic versions, and Homebox's. The other machine makes Secret Jardin, and Darkroom. The machine that makes Hydrohut decided they would try using a different bonding agent in the vinyl to make shit hold together better, while cutting down on expenses at the same time. It was an FDA approved material, so they figured it wouldnt kill any plants. This happened in late 2007, and early 2008. They ran off a couple thousand of these tents in one single run. Basically what happens is, when the light gets hot to a certain point, it causes the bonding agent to "Off Gass" a toxic chemical, while not poisonous to humans, it is LETHAL to plants, slowly killing them off - yellowing at first, but then straight up wilting and dying within a matter of a couple weeks. Hydrohut is the only company taking responsibility for the matter, and is offering to replace anybodies vinyl that is toxic, but it has to be a Hydrohut. Anyone that purchased any other brand is pretty much screwed.

If your gonna purchase one, make sure its a new one that your hydro shop has just purchased and stocked, so you dont have to take that chance. If youve already purchased one, then i guess you could wait until you start to see yellowing in your plants reguardless of the fact that your doing everything else perfect, and then take the vinyl off, and replace it with thematerial of your choice. The plants will not only recover, but theyll thrive and youll see just exactly what a growtent can do for your plants -- which is ALOT man, im REALLY impressed with the way tents work, and ill be using a tent in every grow from now on, for my mothers :D

If you got a DarkRoom or a Secret Jardin, your fine. Those tents were made by the other machine in hong kong, and they didnt use the bonding agent. So rock on with your bad self if you made the right choice, lol.

Hope that answered all your questions man.

So far I have not heard any complaints from people who have the mylar lined grow tents, irrespective of their manufacturers.

i agree 100%. worth every single penny man. The temps are easy to handle, just make sure you got your filter and your fan set up to cool the light off at the same time as exhausting the air.

I have my tent set up like this -- Carbon filter - ducting- fan - ducting-light-ducting-exhaust . Basically the fan is sucking air through the Carbon filter, and then blowing all that air through my cooltube, and then exhausting out of the room. N then i have two small 80cfm intake fans at the bottom of the tent, since hot air rises, you need to fill the lower half with cooler air. This keeps my temps right around 80 degrees, and if it ever gets hotter, i just take advantage of that shit n throw an excellofizz co2 puck into the mix :D -- if shit gets TOO TOO hot, then you need to get yourself an oscilating fan, n sit it outside your tent, and cool your plants off whenever you can have the doors open.

But that shouldnt be a problem man. These tents are made specially to handle the use of HIDs, so theres a way around everything. and with all the precut holes in there, you can fill all of them up with somethin to cool off the tent im sure, lol. I just keep the holes on the roof open for passive ventilation, and close them up at night for complete darkness. But once again, i had to make my own material to put over the tent frame, because mine was toxic. I cut my own holes to spec, and if you ask me, while it aint really pretty, lol, its function is way better than i ever thought it would be man. i give growtents 5 stars :D

Yea we were talking about this in another thread, it's the material but some say the light doesn't have to be on at all. Just in the hut with no light and fan can apparently still kill plants as the gasses build up and aren't vented according to some.

I want to know how any substance that can kill plants in a matter of weeks is harmless to humans. I call shenanigans.
Can we find out what the offending glue or chemical is specifically?

I have a BudBox and have had no problems at all. Its heatproof, fireproof, lightproof. I solves every growroom problem at once. The only thing that is crucial is extraction.

I grow under a 400w Sodium. Its gives off a lot of heat. Plants need ventilation. They wont get any in a growtent without ventilation. I have a 1mX1mX2m BudBox, its the Large size. With the right ventilation you can have perfect growing conditions. Check out my grow journal.

My set up is here: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/109857-my-grow-room.html

Ive got a few fairly successfull grows under my belt done in a secret garden grow tent, I think the only problem would be heat indeed, although theres lots of holes for venting etc.... I'm alright, got a fan carbon scrubber, and intake and outtake, not too pricey for the peace of mind.

HEAT IS NOT A PROBLEM IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY EXHAUST...

i keep my darkroom150 at a constant 75F with no problems whatsoever...people vent into the outer room causing temps to raise into the 90s

the darkroom is top of the line and you wont get any problems

to clarify for you all...

HYDROHUT tents were using recycled plastics for their tents and that material was killing crops...check out my grow journal (link in sig) to see how to properly run and exhaust a 600W in a darkroom150

peace

Everything else I've read says it's the glue used to bond the different layers of plastic. Toxic recycled plastic would get some media attention I would think, since more than grow tents would be at risk.
