I just found this new company that makes vertical growing trays, so you can easily make your own vertical growing system. I did the calcs and you can get 18 plants spaced 6" apart and 27 plants spaced 4". If you did 6 levels with 27-12" plants a level, I'm sure you can pull off 5 pounds.(if you get 1/2 ounce each plant) with 2 or 3 600w lights. Check em' out at www.vertigrowsystems.com

Im no expert by far but 5 lbs in a 4 x 4? yeah right.... 3 600's in a 4 x 4? that will not fit, It will be way too hott and if you tried air cooling them with fans and ducting the 3 600's will not fit no matter how u arange it.

I looked at the web page..... you are trippen man... I believe this is meant for herbs or small plants ( baysal, chives).... The trays are like 8- 10 inches away from each other. You will never get 1/2 ounce from a plant that has a grow space of 4" wide by 8" tall...

They are arranged vertically my dude....It is a vertical growing system and you are going to need a 60" dual cool tube with an extra socket for the third bulb if two isn't enough and a nice 20" floor fan as well as a 6" inline fan to connect to the tube....As long as you have a nice yielding strain thats good for sog method this will definitely work. it might sound impossible, but you are utilizing 8 feet of vertical space.

search "heath's flood tube vertical" this will show you how the plants will grow towards the light through to the next level. they don't grow straight up and hit it...What you will see is a circular wall of heaven. also the levels are adjustable to accommodate any plant height...

ok dude. I will wait untill you buy it, and then spend hella money, and get dissapointed. Not trying to hate but I mean......I bought a new car that they advertised gets 60 miles per gallon....after I bought it, I was only getting 40 miles per gallon. When I woke up today I went outside and the grass was orange, seriously ! ! ! believe me?

i have seen some amazing vertical grows, but theese are $1,000's and $1,000's of dollars worth of equipment and lights and stuff. The big vertical grows have 8" diameter pipes and the plants are much further than 4" a part..... You can deffinatly get 5 lbs from a vertical grow, just not that particular one you mentioned..

A very good grow is to get about 1 gram per watt of light you have. So 2 600's = 1200 watts, that equalls 1200 grams, = 42 ounces = 2 2/3 lbs give or take. So with everything being perfect ( temperature, humidity, ph, nute PPM) This could theoretically do maybe 2 or 3 pounds.....but again, probably not with the set-up u are inquiring about.

haha man alright....first its is going to be growing 162 plants 12" -18" plant. you can get at least a 1/4 ounce off a 12" plant. again google heaths flooded tube vertical. Its amazing...and he got 46 oz from 4 levels....its possible.

i bought this system. not sure about the yield just yet, i'm only 4 1/2 weeks in.
I calculated it out, and this thing starts to get efficient (more plants per square foot than growing on a flat floodtable) once you stack 3+ trays.
I'm only running 2 trays right now, but there's pretty good light penetration using a 600w light. all 30something plants are within a foot or so of the bulb.

i didn't get the lids, though, and it's more conducive to growing pot that way. I use 5" square pots, and then I transfer the clones from the cloner to pots, I put them really close to one side, not in the center.
Then you put that close side on the inside of your tray, so the plants grow up inside the tier above them.

pretty dope so far, still running it on a single pump like my old flood tables.

I guess i'm gonna have to make believers outta you guys. This is going to be my set up

Completely sealed room 4' x 6'. The larger area will be needed for a reservoir and dehumidifier.

Lighting:

2- 600w Quantum digital ballast powering two digilux hps bulbs in a 6" dual cool tube.

Air Circulation:
1- 20" fan to circulate air
1- 6" inline fan to cool the tube

CO2 Level:
It will be a completely sealed room so I will have a tank and controller set for 1500ppm.

Heat exchanger to connect to cool tube to cool room.(need water chiller too)

Humidity to be controlled by a small dehumidifier.

Carbon filter to clean air which will is also attached to cool tube.(it will be filter to fan to cool tube to heat exchanger)

6 levels of vertical growing trays spaced 6" apart to grow 12-18" plants.(162 plants)

The system will be RDWC and I will be using foxfarm nutes.

The strain i'm using is a cross of Blackjack and PPP.

They made this for auto that stay short.....But i can see 5lbs with 100+ plants i mean thats not that much per plants ever if its a single cola ur gonna hit this mark and GL...

I love these systems! I have been growing vertically for quite some time and 5 pounds is a good estimate. My homemade systems that has only two levels and not as many plants is consistently cultivating a pound! I spend tons of money and time making it too-these vertigrowsystems are reasonably priced and damn their is so much you can do with the trays/lids/and stand. I just spoke with a sales rep at vertigrowsystems and they were extremely helpful-thinking i might preorder a system. This is what Im thinking:
-The 6ft stand
-3 trays
-3 lids with the 3 3/4 inch cutouts.
-Make a RDWC
-use a single 600w H.P.S in a cool tube
-Grow my indica strands on the top 2-levels and my sativa strands on the lower level.

Question:how big of a reservoir do you think I will need for a three level? Clown baby or UHL, do you know how much water each tray will fit?
Im thinking a 40 gallon reservoir will be fine though

good to know about your yields, i'm thinking 6 levels in a sealed room with 162 plants should be pushin' around 4-5 pounds and no would even know, not even my roommate. I'm going to be spending around $4000, but hey if it makes four pounds that's at least $8000 in three months.

not sure about reservoir size. well if the dimensions of the tray is 42 o.d. 28 i.d. and 5.5 deep then each level needs about 10 gallons to fill. 40 gallons is prolly pushing it. i would go for 50
