Growing From Seed Questions

I've always grown from clones but I finally got my hands on some nice seeds and I want to make sure that I'm doing everything right so I just have a couple of questions.

1. How much light do you give seeds? I've read they should have at least 16 hours daily. Is there a standard that I should follow? Also, when do you change over the lighting to a typical 18/6 or 24/0?

2. Should I cover the seeds as in a humidity dome?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

No humidity dome at all ever with seedlings. They need to breath and most importantly they need a fan on them drom DAY ONE after they sprout so their stalks grow strong enough to hold themselves up. Lots of people forget or don't know about using a fan for new seedlings and then the things get their first set of real leaves and then just fall over and die because the stem can't support the weight.

Damn, thanks for letting me know that! In all of my reading I don't remember the no dome fact! I also just put a fan on them and I have my lights about two inches away (flouro's). I hope things work out for me cause these seeds were pricey $$$!!!

Thank you!

If you germ the seeds before planting they should be germinated in a warm, dark place. Once the seeds show taproots and you put them in the ground they can go under lights or not, but keep them warm. As soon as one breaks the surface you may put them under the veg lights at 24/0.
edit: just saw your new post- Mine go under 4 ft shop lites at 2", like yours. They go slow for 2 wks, then suddenly grow once they get the roots laid down. No nutes for 3 wks, some say longer. Start weak and work up.

I germinated the seeds between paper toweling and they had .75" taproots after 22 hours! I then placed them into rooting plugs with the taproot down and covered them with a little soil to protect the taproots from light. They are now under lights with a fan blowing and the temp is about 77 degrees. My hope is that they will br standing nice and perky tomorrow morning.

*I was just reading the seeds section in The Cannabis Grow Bible and they say NOT to use a fan?? What do you all think, fan or no fan?

Again, thank you for all of your help!

Seeds need darkness 80 deg moist
seedlings are just like clones. Humidity dome (80% humidity) until the move into veg stage then below 50% humidity and 70 deg
18/6 all veg stage
