I had tried CFL's as well as tube flourecents and they dont even compare to the grow that you can get from a HID, you can get a reletivley small MH 200 or 400 watt for pretty cheap and There is no doubt in my mind that they pay for themselves right away, I currently use a 1000 watt MH and would never try CFL's again

You can order HID's on-line for reasonable prices. But truthfully, I would suggest going to a reputable Hydroponics/Garden store in your area because the sales person can answer all of your questions as far as wattage, energy consumption, what light is best for your space, etc. And a good store should have everything you need as far as medium, containers, hydroponic system options, and nutrients... Just don't go in there asking about "you know!!!". I hate "Miracle Grow" because of all the salts and metals in it. But I hear that moisture control one isn't bad. I like "Pro-Mix", but Home Depot sell a brand named "Greater Gardens" or something like that, that I use also.

I use

leaf your plants that will make the plant grow faster (producing more leafs)
top or prune branches off that you don't want

This is my first indoor grow and i could use a little help.

Ok i started the plants outside and once they got to be about an inch tall i moved them inside. They are about two feet under a 400W Mh light that i will change to HPS for veg.

The problem is that i water them well but when i checked on them they a dried out and withered.

The light is on a 18/6 cycle and i had figured it was to much light for the plant. So that is why i moved it to about two feet away from the tops but i have not seen any improvment yet.

They are in an attic which can get quite hummid but there is a small air hole i thought would ventalate fine.

I realy dont think that my light is to strong but it could possibly be the unvented room.

If i were to get a fan would they start sprouting up.

What am i doing wrong?

ps how so i know when to switch hps lights. do i do it right when i can specify if its a male or female or do i give it some time to accumulate resin.

pss does any one know any tricks on how to get some cool colors in the plant i have heard of using purple coolaid but it could just be a myth.
