Growing help!

It's a rainy day today and hearing that you should prepare your outdoor growing plot in the fall, I went onto the boarder of the woods from my house and dug a 2'-2' hole. I filled it halfway with Miracle Grow Potting Mix, and then put 3 cups of Miracle Grow All Purpose Plant Food on top of it. I'm checking with you guys to see if I did everything right, check out the pictures below:

You put 3 CUPS of water soluble fertilizer on? Seriously?

That is meant to be mixed with water and applied at like a tsp/gal. Thats enough to make about 150 gallons of feeding solution.

Hopefully it will wash out over the winter.

It's supposed to pour all this week up here if that matters or not. In the spring will the plant be okay when I plant the seeds and it starts to grow?

Pasries - I got your message. After you get a few more posts you can PM me with specific questions. In the meantime keep reading. There's a whole section on outdoor grows.

yeah man, i'm too old to do the outdoor thing but my grobro does so i'm not unfamiliar, plus, i've been growing indoors for some years now so i do know how to grow, ...which leads me to my point that Miracle Grow is shit, it can work but that's not how you want to do the outdoor guerilla thing.

here's a couple links by an expert that should help you immeasurably if you take the time to study them, ...he has many other threads as well so take a look through the list and i promise you you won't be disappointed.

Evaluating your plots soils: Testing your PH

Evaluating Sunshine potential in your plot

Guerrilla auto-Irrigation (Watering your plants when you aren't there)

BACKCOUNTRY's 2010 pre-season preparation and workshop journal

...if you take the time to learn how to do the outdoor thing organically your plots get better every year while they need less and less inputs from you, the web of life takes over and nature does the work for you.

peace, bozo

Hell I don't know, never heard of anybody doing that. I would be hesitant to plant in it, afraid it would still be too hot. You might dig up what you mixed in and like split it up among 3 planting holes, effectively diluting it down to about 1/3 strength. Or just make that hole a lot larger turning everything under, then let it sit all winter.

I see pine needles. Forest soil under pine trees is acidic, make sure you throw in a generous ammt of dolomitic lime in and mix it up also. In a 5 gal bucket of soil I toss in a big fistfull.

Yeah so basically I'm just going to drop that area and do as you said with new soil and dolomitic lime in a new spot.

...did you check out either of those links i posted?

it's up to you how fast you educate yourself, if you read those threads you will learn many things you don't know you need to know, ...and the more perspectives you get the more complete your own understanding will be.

good luck grasshopper, bozo

Hey guys, I did read those guides and they were pretty helpful. The only problem I truly have is that I have limited resources to use and can't get any other soil for at least six months.

These are the only resources I have at the moment; are any of them helpful?

- Osmocote: Flower and Vegetable Plant Food

- Scott's: Starter Fertilizer: PLUS CRABGRASS PREVENTER

- Deer OFF

- Miracle Gro: Shake n' Feed

- Miracle Gro: Bloom Booster

- Miracle Gro: All Purpose Plant Food

- Bug B Gon: Garden and Landscape

- Scott's: Starter Fertilizer: SLECIAL FORMULA FOR OVERSEEDING AND PLANTING SEED, SOD, SPRIGS, AND PLUGS.

- Wood Ashes

- Leaves

- ecosensebrand: 3 in 1 rose care

(I also have the fertilizer and soil mix tha I mentioned before)

If your planting seed right now all you need is the soil and the rain water nothing else for the first 2 weeks. . You dont need nuts that a certain.
