Growing in Silence??

Well, this is my first post on here. I've been reading as much as possible w/'o asking Q's.

But now i have one.

What works best for quieting the vibration/noise coming from the Air pump used with the air stones??

I had bought one w/4 air outlets, but when i turned it on it was pretty damn loud.
I bought a second one of a different design which is Much quieter
but still will be noticed.

I tried some foam mats i had, with the triangle points on them, that worked ok.
I was thinking of trying the stuff they use in cars for car stereo systems.

i need almost perfect silence, i know i won't get absolute silence.
Thanks

Not sure what brand you are using, but i picked up a whisper 100 for around 30 bucks. I have it resting on a folded blanket and don't hear anything. Mostly the sound of the water pump and misc water sounds.

The Whisper 100 is the second one i bought from walmart.
the noisy one is from ebay, about $28, but pushes more air.

i have some
sound deadening on the way that imma use, should kill the vibrations so i can use the bigger pump.

This is my first post, so I popped a cherry...
I'm having the same problem and am probably using the same pump. Mine is a Coralife Super Luft. I had a few sheets of the interlocking foam play mats and used it to make a box with removable lid for the pump to sit in. I just used a small cardoard box as a jig to hold the pieces while I superglued them together. It helps baffle the sound, but I may still end up insulating my cabinet to get the noise down more. The Dynamat you are talking about works (I use it in my PC cases to kill noise) but I'm planning on using some leftover foam underlayment from when I installed my floors. Dynamat is too expensive.

try hanging your pump, ive found that most of the noise comes from surfaces vibrating when the come in contact with one another, i use a elastic bungiee cord helped alot, i hang my pump from a shelf mount that i put my can 66 on.

I have my air pumps hanging, not cause they were loud but coz Im super paranoid about electricity and water, so I have all my electrical stuff off the floor.

poppin my cherry also. This is my first grow, DWC 3 plants. Just moved my babies to an upstairs bedroom (attic too hot). The problem i have is vibration noise in kitchen below. Air pump hanging by bungee and quiet. The problem is my airstones stuck to the bottom of my buckets by velcro. Any ideas please???
