**Growing Outdoors LATE in the Season HELP!?

First, please don't rip on me, I've done plenty of reading, but still don't know how to treat my problem. Yes it's only my second post, and I've already made a thread about the cliche question "How do I grow?". Regardless, here are my concerns.

I want to grow outside, and I live in New Jersey, where it starts to get cold around October. However, I really wanted to stock up a little bit for the winter. I live in a dorm, and forming an Indoor Grow Op is not an option. I'm also on a budget, school is expensive as it is. I have already germinated the seedlings to the point that the roots are an inch long or so, and I'm fretting that they need planted SOON. I put 3 seeds in Miracle Grow for about 30 minutes, but later took them out when I heard how bad it was. So....

1. I want to grow outside, but I don't think I should just put the seeds in the plain soil. I think I want to start them in a cup and a pot, then eventually put them in the ground. I also want to protect them from heavy rainfalls since it can rain pretty hard here.
2. When they do go in the ground, should i use store bought soil, or Earths soil? How do I nourish them with fertilizers and plant food when they are in the ground?
3. I'm under the impression you should keep away all nutrients for the first few weeks or so. This is about when I'll be switching them to the ground, so its all a hard concept for me to understand how to use.
4. Is going 9 days without rain followed by a total downpour alright for a young plant? I just want to get it started correctly.

I already read this thread as far as supplies go, all for under 10 dollars at home depot

Sorry guys, I'm a total noob and am in a bit of a rush. Please try to answer all my questions. Thanks.

Sorry for the double post. I'm not able to edit my post.

sorry that I had to edit this picture that isn't mine. My camera is broke. They roots literally that long. Some of the roots are purple towards the end, and one of the roots got so wide, it separated from the seed. But the end of the root is still very hard. Can I still plant it?

If it gets cold in october your SOL it takes longer then a month to bud let alone grow then bud. And with rain unless you have a greenhouse its going to mold your bud. It is already flowering time so you probably will get a couple grams.

You may want to consider indoor growing or at least greenhouse growing...it's pretty late in the season :(

I realized that it really is too late to grow outdoors and I can't grow indoors, nor do I have access to a green house. I just through them all in some plain soil in the woods, and I hope to let nature take its course. If I get a little bit of bud, then so be it, if not, whatever. It was just bagseed anyway.

PUNT.....Read up on how to grow outdoors in the northeast. You have 9 months to get ready for next spring. Attempting to grow this year will be futile.

Since I threw my seeds in some regular plain ground under a tree (blocking about 60 percent of direct sunlight) I just decided to let nature take its course, and hope to maybe just get a couple grams. My question is.

Its not forecast to rain for another 12 days. I planted the seeds 2 days ago. Thats 2 weeks without water, but when it does rain, the little seeds are gonna get FLOODED. So should I hold out, or go water them myself a little bit in a few days?

Honestly It doesn't matter much.. The sunlight is getting ever nearer to 12 hours. My prediction (if they live) is they will grow a few inches and then it will be too cold for them. By the time they would be mature enough to flower, they'll be dead or dying.

Save the rest of your seeds in a dark cool place until next spring.

Take care,

2 of my little babies already sprouted. They probably won't make it, but its a good feeling.
Hey there:) I say"hats off to you". Nothing ventured, nothing gained!!!
Make it a learning experience.
Good Luck to you...and I'll be watching your thread to see how it all turns out.

the leaves havent gotten any bigger, but the stem has got really long(but is still very thin). They are falling over and i already have to stake them up. They are planted in regular woods dirt, with plenty of rocks in the soil. The bottom of the stems also are purple. I thought I'd let nature take its course, but it hasnt been raining here. I've only watered them twice since. Could it be that they arent getting enough water?

why can't you grow indoors? there's plenty of ways to grow indoors without taking up much space or blowing up your electric bill hell some people grow out of party cups stuffed in an empty computer case. You can't do that?

As I've said before, I live in a dorm, and especially can't grow with the one guy I'm living with.
