HI

I have the following mix, do you think it's ok. Please recommend what I should add.

If I'm mixing 10L at a time:
4L Coco coir
3L Mushroom compost
2L Perlite
1L Worm castings.

Should I add dolomite lime?

Cheers mate:spew:

A couple of comments/questions. A lot of people use coco. I compared the amount of moisture absorbed between coco & Mosser's peat moss. Mosser's peat held 20 X's it's weight in water, where coco fiber don't come close. To me it seemed to be a better method.
Also, I got a pick-up load of mushroom compost basically as a filler with the perlite, organic potting soil, greensand, whole ground corn meal & Lady Bug's rejuvenation compost. For young plants, I'm just flat out scared to use a lot of mushroom compost due to the high nitrogen level. I pretty much wash the compost for transplanting young plants, and add the 'tea' (wash-off) later to bigger plants in diluted form. Problem is, I just don't know how strong this stuff is. Does anybody know the basic make up of mushroom compost? I do know my plants are very beautiful & healthy.

Your goin way overboard in my eyes keep it simple is the key with canna ive found.

for a 10l pot id line the bottom of the pot with newspaper
put 3/4 inch of pearlite in
then top up to about an inch from the top with canna

easy peasy

just use canna A + B until flowering

honestly simplicity is the game with canna

ok nice....i've been hearing about coco....i have 2 Ice seedlings in Peat Pellets...i was probably gonna transplant in soil but i'm sooo damn sick of this fungus gnats and their damn larve....so is there any bugs that comes along with the coco coir? I have GH Maxigro and maxibloom dry nutes...i really wanna try this if its as forgiving as soil if u miss a watering....

lol no dont miss a watering canna becomes very routine like i water every 2 days routine is very important in this game !!!!!!!!HINT!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i keep a close eye on it all the time as it has the bad habit of drying out sometimes but keeping an eye on it helps. ive had a couple of times when ive been a few hours late in watering and the plants have flopped quite a bit but it came back to full health after a good water (if it is this dry water a small bit at a time or it will drain right thru lol) but remember everytime you fuck up it reduces the plants outcome. its all about same thing, same time... everyday!

/\/\yeah does coco expand when you water it for the first time? Or is it just the weight that increases by like 10x? Otherwise just convert those measures...

Hi,I am in about week 4 of a totally Canna Coco grow. This is my 4th grow, but the other 3 were with an aeroponics setup and virtually no rooting medium.I didn't know that the Coco needed to be mixed with perlite or vermiculite. It doesn't say that in the Canna video or the package instruction, so I just potted mine with straight coco. The plants are growing, but I they are all either kind of pale, have limp leaves, or burnt/curled tips. They seem to be having nute blockage, over watering, and nute burn all at the same time.Does anyone have a journal or information regarding the Canna coco system, a watering schedule, and its pH/EC measured with some standard of coco/water other than the 150/100 in the Canna video? What should I do about the unmixed coco? I'm afraid to try to repot the plants because they're only a month old and already in less than perfect health, but I would appreciate advice from growers who have used this medium before.many thanks,\anyname

Hi,I am in about week 4 of a totally Canna Coco grow.
I too have just started to grow with coco..... I have clones that have rooted in rockwool cubes and have just placed the hole lot into coco fiber in a orchid pot. Running a turbo tank... but converted into drip feed, NEED A WATER SCHED for this stuff???? Constinant? Or on off 15mins, 15mins an hour, lights on lights off.....
I am running 400w - 4plants, drip, DUTCH GROW, super thrive, aussie magic grow juice. PH 5-6 -5-9. EC at 1.1-1.3
3 weeks in first grow!

QUESTION:NEED A WATER SCHED for coc fiber with rockwool starter cubes????

kiss-ass:confused:

Some people say water every day until it comes out the bottom of the pots. That is definitely not working for me. I don't know if that's because the plants aren't as big as the pots yet or because I didn't mix the coco with a less absorbent, airier something, like perlite or clay pebbles.

I am having trouble dialing in the nute EC because I have to wait so long between watering to keep from drowning the roots. My best plant is the one that I have watered the least. Others have had high EC's, low EC's, flushes, and rhizotonic. They all look bad except the one that has had the least watering.

It's hard to measure the EC of the coco because the only available standard I have found is from Canna, and uses a 150cc sample of coco, which is not practical in small systems. My new game plan is going to be to water them with varying levels of nutrient and see which improves.

Any suggestions from people who actually have first hand experience growing with coco in hand-watered pots would be greatly appreciated.

posted this on another thread but this seems to be the correct place so il post here too.

newb to coco so forgive my stupidity, i am using canna coco slab and have bought canna coco A+B, i thought i was buying a nutrient that was served in two parts, A when veging and B when flowering but it says on the bottle to use equal parts of A+B in the same mix. So do i use this same fomula from seddling to harvest, grow to flower, ect or do i do what i thought and use A until i flower theb use B?
Really hope someone can help me out here, I have read several threads but they dont seem to be much use when it comes to this probably dumb question.

Cheers in advance.
