Growing with LEDs

Hey there,

This is my first post on these forums, thought I'd ask here as there seems to be a damn big amount of knowledge and talent kicking around here :)

So aye, I've never grown before but with a new room on the way I'm thinking of starting up. I've been looking around at lights etc and was wondering if anyone here's had any experience with using LED lights instead of anything else.

These things (link) look pretty sweet, but I'm not sure if they'd be any good... They look pretty good though, and I've seen rigs of LED lights for growing plants around on the internet, and wondered if I'd be able to use a few (2 or 3) of these for a setup with a couple of plants.

I'm still not sure of any of the details on this grow as I'm just thinking about lights at the moment. But was also wondering if covering the inside of the grow box with mirrors would be a good idea. It'd spread the light around amazingly I guess, but might cause burning?

Like I said, I've never grown before so any advice would be appreciated :)

Cheers

those look sweet, but they're just out of spectrum. i believe u want 640-660nm for reds and 410-430 for blues. try to find what nasa used with goggle--not sure if the wavelengthes i listed are best for all plants or just ganja

correction; i found this LED grow lights... input please. - CANNABIS.COM Message Boards - Quality Marijuana and Hemp Information

definately looks like a good setup. Are you flowering(red lights)? How's the plants progress? Keep posting, as I am interested to see how this experiment turns out. LED's last forever, and consume minimal power. Oh yeah, how's the heat if any?

Heres another, these are not mine, however the above mentioned link, for buying led's has a new product using less watts, and better output, in my opinion, its still young technology. If it were me, I'd choose T-5's instead.

I am also interested in using LED lights but they don't seem to be getting alot of good reviews except with the people who are selling them.
I think for my 1st grow i will stick to MH and HPS although the idea of the energy consumption and the heat generated off of these isn't very appealing.
And off topic here but are you from Scotland i noticed you used the worlds "aye" and "awk" lol :)
