Ok. It is 6 days since I potted the clones in potting soil and here are some pics. They look like they want some N to me in the new leaves but the old leaves are showing some wierdness almost nute burn. I kinda expected this as the potting soil has some organic ferts from chicken manure ect (see previous post pic). It has been in the 50s during the nite and mostly overcast in the daytime so may be a little shock from the clone room. The soil still is a bit moist so I will check tomorrow and see if they are thursty yet.

The WC which have some pistles look the best, IMO.

Baby alert: I took a peek at the nursery and 2 hijack, one of each had popped: jack's suprise, jack the ripper, and CC/WC. Tonight at midnight will be 3 complete days so still have plenty of time for the rest to pop out. Here are some pics of the little ones in the nursery. Rapid rooters are doing well.

One more JTR (2 total) and one more Hijack (3 total) sprouted today in the nursery. Still early though so just chilling. Im putting the nursery outside in shaded sun for the day and bringing it in during the evening. Im going to check out some large pots for the potted plant section. I will let you know what I find.

Went to the hydro store to see if my Hanna Multimeter had arrived. It had and so I took it home to play with it. Now I am very familiar with water quality instruments since when I was younger we used these instruments to gauge water quality. Boy has technology passes me as if I was in the slow lane. My new multimeter reads Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in parts per million, electric conductivity (EC), pH, and temperature.

I unpacked it and plugged it in and read the instructions before I started pressing the buttons. What I blew over was the fact that both probes needed to be in the solution for it to work right.

After re-reading the instructions :dunce:, I calibrated the instrument and took a reading on my tap water. Now I always thought our water was prety good but as the pictures show that is not the case for TDS. pH is ok at around 7.5, still on the high side for soil, but look at the TDS almost 400. TDS of the water would be a factor if I was going to use it to mix my nutes or use hydro, but I have RO and DI so its not an issue. :blsmoke:

All four parameters are easily displayed and calibrated, once you read the instructions correctly, lol. This is also a continuous read meter so when I do aero/hydro it can sit in the nute solution and be mounted on the wall for easy measurements.

Not much is happening apart from another hijack seed sprouted out. Im going to have to plant those since they will be outgrowing the nursery soon.

I've noticed that seeds that germinate after the 24 hr mark are usually prominently females, :D. How much did your reader cost?? I was looking at one similar to that one for 80 bucks..... I need to get one.... and you want your TDS to be around 50-100, and usually no more than 150. PH between 6.7-7.0 would probably be best for your soil, R/O and purified waters really help with that though... ;). Looking very nice congrats :D

Your are always welcome Hodgy. I need to get my ass in gear to cut some trees for more sun on my area then the rototilling. I may need to take some vacation to do this since I get distracted on the weekends doing other things. How was camping?
Camping was great, Nuggs and I caught fish and just relaxed mostly. When I got home I found that my son took his momma's car out and sunk it into one of our lakes, then to make matters worse he yanked it out with a truck and chain. Hydro-locked the motor and tried to pull start it while towing, bent a rod and? Think I need another vacation.......

Sweet meter.
How much ?
I got it for $135 from my local hydro guy, which is what it was on the net with free shipping. Thought I posted the site a few posts back. It is really easy to operate once I read the instructions twice, ok maybe 3 or 4 times.

I am lucky that I work with water quality meters at work and have the calib solutions at hand if I need them.

Thx TLD See my response to Earl on the cost. If you can get that meter for $80 go for it. $135 was the lowest I could find it for with free shipping. The hydro guy matched it. I even saw it on ebay for $130 plus shipping so Im good with what I payed.

Yea I now know what Earl was saying when he kept repeating "use RO." I always thought mine was lower than the people who posted there water was 400 TDS. Lucky I have RO and a DI unit from my aquarium days and growing orchids. I was going to shoot for a nute/ water pH of 6.5 and various TDS based on grow cycle. I was hoping my RO water was around 50 so I will test that tomorrow since I think I will need some nutes for the babies soon!

Good RO comes out like 15-30, :D have fun.... mine is 200 ...... and I don't have access to R/O..... PH is like 7.4 regular water...... I do what I can.................

Holy shit Hodge!!! WTF, didnt you shorten that leash or did he chew it off, lol. Sounds like your son will learn engine rebuilding 101 in summer school. Well at least you had a little rest and good time.

The nursery is kicking ass. So far at day 6 have 5/6 hijack; 2/3 JTR; 1/3 Jacks Suprise, 2/8 CC/WC. As you can see the roots are coming out the bottom of the RR and I will need to get some potting soil tomorrow to plant some of these.

Im going to do the same with the Gardner & Bloom (G&B) and the potting soil as Im doing with the super soil and G&B which is put the G&B on the bottom of the pot, a mix of G&B and potting soil in the middle, and just potting soil on the top. THis way I wont have any burning problems and the roots can ease into the G&B. I didnt think the G&B was hot but the clones are taking awhile to get use to it and they look a little burnt.

One strange thing is one of the JTR has what looks like 2 shoots coming out. I have heard of this but never seen it in person. See what you think.

I have been leaving the nursery out longer so they get use to the sun and wind. Watered a little with distilled water to keep the rooters moist. Temps were in the low 70s and lows were in the low 50s. Its been a little cloudy but mostly sunny today.

These are Nuggs plant boxes.
Those boxes are nice. Im going to pot up some of the larger plants in the nursery this weekend and get them going since they have some nice roots and they are outgrowing the nursery.

Its about time for some weak nutes for the potted clones so lets see what that does for them. Im going to go easy with them since they seem sensitive to nutes.

I was begining to wonder about the rest of these strains when I opened the humidome of the nursery to find all 8 of the CC/WC sprouting. WOW! What a comeback. Tonight marks the 1 week (7 days) mark since seed placement into the RRs. Two strains are 0/3 which bums me but it is still early.

Guess the papaya and cali indica didn't make the grow. You did good on these though.:peace:
The CI X BB made it but so far its 0/3 and its been since 4/24. I will try the others soon if these dont pop so I can at least get a couple moms of CI X BB. I may switch to papaya if these dont pop too. Still early yet so Im not giving up yet. Thx for stopping by Hydro

Ok. SO its been awhile since I last posted so I thought I wouild update the thread.
I guess from what I have seen what I am doing, starting seed without any indoor veging, is old school but its what I know and can do. So I have had the nursery going with 20/26 seed popping. Two of those 20 were retards without the first set of leaves and only the stalk, wierd! (one is in botton right of pic). So 18 babies are in the running. More on the ones that didnt start later. I posted a shot of the nursery before repotting.

I do alot in the garden and I always want to know what things look like when they are good and bad so I split the Rapid Rooters to see why the 6 beans didnt sprout. The 3 Joey Weed C99 X Apollo 11 just flat out didnt pop. I have 7 more so I may try some in a little bit. But the CI x BB seeds were popped but not growing so I think they were not moist enough to get going so I repotted them into wetted Promix (the way I use to sprout seeds) and will see how they do over the next week. I also planted the C99 X A 11 but I dont think they will pop. So the lineup for this outdoor crop is:

Hijack (HJK)
Jack's Suprise (JS)
Chemo Cindy X Widow Cindy (CCxWC)
Jack The Ripper (JTR)
Widow Cindy D (clone) [WCD]
Widow Cindy F (clone) [WCF]
G13 (clone) (G13)
Maybe if they finish popping
Calif Indica X Big Bud (CI xBB)

I have started giving the clones weak nutes (500 ppm) between RO waterings. They look as though they are getting over the shock of going into the Gardner & Bloom so I will start increasing the ppm slowly on the clones. The babies are getting new homes soon so stay tuned.

I thought the Gardner & Bloom (G&B) may be a little too hot for the clones since they were showing signs of burnig or shock. I started giving them pHed water and 2 days ago gave them weak nutes (500 ppm). Will be watering everyone tomorrow since its starting to heat up here.

The Rapid Rooters (RR) were starting to dry out during the day even though I soaked them every night so I thought it was time to pot them. I went with plain Promix BX which has mycorrhizae. As you can see in the pic I filled the pots half with the promix and put the RR in, watered the RR and promix and then filled the rest of the pot. This will shorten the strech a bit on some of the first growers. All the RR had roots coming out the bottom :). I lightly tamped the circumference of each pot and patted lightly around the plants.

For each bunch I labeled the plants and dated the tag. The plants looked good on Day 2 of potted soil.

I mentioned in the previous post that I put the unpopped beans into wetted promix and I will be watching them over the next week [fingers crossed].
