Guide to making a vaporizer

Vaporizers are possibly the best things to smoke out of, and is the most recommended methods of smoking for medical marijuana. Its much safer on your lungs, since you dont combus the molecules, causing the release of more carcinoges, gets rid of much tar, and doesnt make you choke. Also, it allows more THC to be inhaled, since instead of incenerating much of it, you just release it to the air.

First off, SWIM would like to thank Goosie for the idea. His is the most common and simplistic.

Materials:
Light bulb
Bottle Cap (size depends on size of light bulb...)
Knife
Straw
Tape (Electrical is best)

Procedure:

1) First, take the light bulb and your knife. Cut off the top of the metal part of the light bulb with the knife (or saw i guess... just be EXTREMLY CAREFUL! seriously... SWIM doesn't want people getting cut badly because of his tutorial! take your time and do it slowly and carefully)


2) When you have that metal part cut off, then empty out the inside. Take out the metal stuff inside that makes the lightbulb make light... when your done the inside should be cleaned out. Using plyers helps since most of the peices are aluminum (SWIM thinks...) and just bend really easly to fall out.
Also be sure to clean out the bulb completly with soap and water, and let fully dry. and be careful as bulbs are quite fragile!


3) Now find a bottle cap (mostly 2 liter coke-bottle caps work... they have on all the bulbs SWIM tried so far...) and screw it onto the light bulb (thats why you left some of the metal there ) to see if it fits. if it doesnt, look for a diffrent sized cap.


4) Now take your cap off and make 2 holes in it. 1 just big enough to fit a staw through, and the other slightly smaller. These are your inhalation holes, and your clearing hole. the smaller one is to cover with your finger to keep the smoke from excaping. the one with the straw is to inhale


5) Now to put in the straw to complete your vaporizer! put the straw into the larger hole



6) To use:
unscrew the top, and put your weed in (SWIM breaks his up, but thats just him...). Cover the smaller hole and put your mouth on the straw (dont inhale) and put the bulb over a tea-candle or use your lighter under the bulb. the bulb will fill with white smoke. after it does that, uncover the small hole and inhale through the straw. makes weed last longer and gets ya pretty damned high hope someone finds this useful on one of those days with nothing to smoke with... takes aprx 15 minutes to build.

Damned ! Beats $80 plus shipping. I got to try that after I get finished with my Ganga butter.
I am not a DIY, so uh.....how do you not get burnt and how do you ohold it when it's hot ?

Holding onto it when it's hot. I have some gloves that are oven proof yet allow you flexibility.

Couldn't I just use a glass jar that already has a lid, like a small jar that Vicks Vaporrub or Noxema comes in?

thinner glass heats faster though as long as it don't break

my brother and i made a vape out of a mason jar and a light socket. we had our hose coming out of the lid. we fashioned a bowl from foil to sit on top of the bulb.

turn the switch on and it starts a steamin!

damn it, had the same first impression after lookin at the pics, i don't know what to think about this one

yeah whats really the difference between that and an oil burner? (for smokin twak that is)

cuz thats just a big glass ball with a tube coming out of one part and a hole on another part...

and i can go buy those at my local dolar store... they have all sorts of meth smoking stuff (and well... fuck speed, but i'm just saying it looks like it would work the same)

is there any danger of getting some nasty chemical fumes coming from residue left in the bulb?

i don't know much about this, but i'd say chemical fumes'll be minimal, as a bulb is just glass, so it'd be the same as smoking from any store bought bowl. and Roseman, i wouldn't touch anything that had vicks vaporrub or noxema, or any other sort of hting like that. never know what kinds of chemicals are in there, best to get like, try maybe a small jam jar or something if you don't want to use the light bulb. at least you eat jam, so it can't be that bad for you.

Happy tokin' everyone, and i'm def gonna try that. oh yeah, i meant to say, for holding it, it wouldn't be that hard to attach some sort of wooden handle to the cap too. just make sure it doesn't burn or anything, cause i don't see smoking wood being good for you. (wooden so as not to conduct heat. rubber emits strange fumes when heated, don't use it)

i added a berocca tube to the end ofthe bulb so that it gives me something to hold without burning my hands... it works mint...

hahah. in fear and loathing in las vegas johnny depp smokes something out of a light bulb. it shows the it right after he wakes up the next day and the hotel room is filled with water and shit. hes walking around with like a dinosaur tail on hahahh. shiit. what a wonderful movie.

just to let you all know, if you do use a white bulb, you can clear all of the white paint (i guess its paint) out of the inside of your bulb by pouring salt into the bulb and shaking it for a minute or two, should make your light bulb crystal clear, and yes the white is a chemical and its not good for you, thats about it

Yer like danny said pour salt into the bulb once you got all the shit out and shake the bulb abit and the salt will get rid of the white powder(this dont work for all bulbs tho)
Also you want to use a 100w+ bulb, lower wattage bulbs are more likely to crack when your trying to heat up the weed as there not made for that sort of heat.

I made one once, used it twise then chucked it away...Not something i want laying around my house as it looks liek a form of crack pipe, aslo dont think its very effective.

Much rather just do a bong or smoke a joint.
