it is completely different from soil, thats why i quit. but i will say to do yourself a favor and not just jump into it without doing adequate research about how to go about maintaining a hydro setup. other than that, invest in a RO water filtration system, some good meters (ph, ppm, etc), and then hang out in the hydro section on here; RIU has a bunch of really good hydro growers; good luck bro:joint:

Glad to see you trying your hand at hydro, i successfully ended my 1st hydro grow in january o8, never having grown before i was very successful, thanks in part to the green man video series on youtube, and also doing a TON of research online.
the mini caddy looks nice, a little spendy for me but none the less, still primo!
as everyone has said, if the mini caddy does not come with an ph and ec meter i would invest in a continuous readout meter, hanna makes the best ones, check their site, i found my meter on ebay. www.hannainst.com/
good nutes and filtered water and thats about all you need, i used dutch master advance for veg and dutch master gold for flower.

check my current grow and some pics of my last harvest as i'll be posting about growing in hydro

for hydro i like a continous readout meter, nice digital ph and ec displays and you have your info redily available, so your know where you are at all times, heres a look at my meter, cost me about 100 bucks. photos are so you can get an idea of how my meter works, the ph an ec electrodes stay in the nute resrevoir at all times during my grow, its just easier and more accurate that way i think,
hope that helps
