H2929 Massachusetts Legalization Bill PUBLIC HEARING

I just wanted to inform everyone that on October 14th, the Massachusetts State House's Committee on Revenue will hold a hearing at 10AM to discuss bill H2929, An Act to Regulate and Tax the Cannabis Industry. This may potentially be a boon to your cause for a more sensible drug policy and we would love to get anyone down to participate who is interested. We don't expect the bill to pass at this juncture but we very much want to raise awareness and continue the debate. We're looking for responsible cannabis consumers and legalization/regulation activists who are fed up with the current policies to come out and show support. If you show up between 9-9:30, you can sign-up to show your support and speak as a proponent of the bill. We're hoping to fill the room with supporters (and hopefully parents to show that this issue affects multiple generations).

If you'd like more information, please email/call me or check out this website: http://cantaxreg.com/

i agree with you greenearth, mj users in large part are completely lazy. They want to sit back and do absolutely nothing but bitch and moan about mj and the current laws, this nation was built not by watchers but by doers. people that stood up for what they believe in. now isnt the time to just wait, we need to act .to any of the mj users that our out there helping inform the general population about mj and its multiple benefits or going out and actively trying to help legalize mj keep up the good work. i know its hard and frustrating at time but eventually we will succeed. no thanks to all the lazy pussies who opt to hide in their homes, sitting on their nice cozy couches or hiding under their beds waiting for someone else to do all the "dirty work" for them. To anyone not doing anything HELP OUT and inform everyone u know about the benefits of mj dont be ashamed or afraid learn about all of its attributes educate urself on it and once u do that its hard not to want to tell people.

Hey Man, I voted last year and helped Decriminalize marijuana here. 65% of Massachusetts did. It's the rest of you states that need to get on board. The word is spread around these parts. Shit, my 72 year old father who was in the military for 35 years is IN FAVOR of legalization now. Who would of thought. The mindset is slowly spreading... We just need to have patience and be smart about it. The media for the last 11 months or so has done a complete 180 when it comes to its feelings about marijuana. National news networks, even ultra conservative networks like fox news, are doing somewhat "unbiased" reports on how marijuana might really not be as bad as the government makes it out to be.That's a huge step in the right direction.
Groups like Partnership for a drug free America and DARE are focusing their efforts AWAY from marijuana and more towards the real problems like prescription drug abuse and alcohol abuse. Finally, I'm actually in support of their efforts. And finally their efforts going into the right direction. Its that crap that kills kids. Not marijuana. Anyways.

Once a couple states legalize, the rest of the country, including the Feds will see the revenue available by legalization. And the profits will outweigh the pressure of the timber/oil/drug co lobbyists, and we will get what we want. And the world will be sure to follow.

Johnny u did what everyone needs to do u went out and helped with legalizing mj, the more states that legalize it even if just for medical use the easier its going to be. Right now i live in Florida and theres a petition to get mmj on ballot for 2010 but it probably isnt going to happen . We need 700,000 signatures and we only have around 30,000 right now . Its very disappointing but if every mj user in Florida helped out it wouldnt be a problem, ive been pushing for 3 months now and have found it extremely hard to get people to sign, ive gotten more non smokers to sign than actual mj users, they dont want to do anything they are waitin for someone else to do it for them, but they will be the first one in line to get mmj card if it passes. The world is full of people that sit back and do absolutely nothing to help , they all bitch and complain about mj laws but thats it. To bad for fLORIDA WE WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL 2012

Yeah, We're lucky in the fact that we have TONS of colleges in MA. Good schools, med schools, and it happens to be a place where some of the brightest pothead college students in America come go to school for 4-12 years. So many of them put a lot of effort into the decriminalization and legalization of MJ here.
Also Boston Freedom Rally normally attracts 15-30,000 people and I think the attendance was even higher this year following the decriminalization last November.
And they have about 30-40 different petetions for different laws that get signed by almost everybody there. ( sometimes even a couple times I think :) )
So we have a good support system for the legalization here... Also Rep Barney Frank- what an asset...

Its good to hear from people that turned out to support all of this. However, that doesnt get everyone off the hook for not showing up for this meeting. I watched the video in disappointment as i seen most of the seating was empty. However, I was glad that NORML sent that guy in support of Legalization. I hope you guys turn out in numbers for this next meeting or you might not get it.

Who all are in support of Legalization within your elected officials????

Whats barney frank gotta say about this?

We are doing a similar movement right here in my town. We are working out deals with a private organization to do a campaign to get MMJ on the next ballot.

Dude Barney Frank is the Rep who co signed the bill with Ron Paul to decriminilize Marijuana on a Federal Level. He was the forerunner for the decriminalization of MJ in MA last November and he is the Sponsor of the bill we're talking about right now. H 2929
