Happy Frog Potting Soil... Recommended Nutrients and Usage?

I am working with Happy Frog Potting Soil cut with about 15% perlite. I will be using Fox Farms Grow Big, Big bloom, and Tiger bloom.
I am wondering how often I should use cal/mag, superthrive, and mollasses in my garden.

Please offer your advice, experiences, and knowledge!

Thanks! :bigjoint:

I add extra Dolomite, a little less than 1 cup per bag but more than 1/2.....after launch its molasses and maxsea.

Edit: I also cook this for a few months with a little molasses water.

Dolemite lime takes a bit to become available to the plants. I would add Cal/Mag at least once a week minimum, until it is ready...

I looked into using Dolemite Lime about a week ago because of some Magnesium deficiencies I was having, but I ended up buying Botanicare's Cal/Mag and have done one feeding of it so far at 2 tsps per gallon along with two tsps of growbig and big bloom.
Thanks for the advice so far guys!

The happy frog is my soil of choice for seedlings, but after the transplant.....I like something a bit hotter.the recipe for subby's super soil is in the organics thread. It takes some cooking time, but the results are very good. Peace & be kind

Yes, cal mag, depending on your water you may not need any. A small bag of calcium nitrate and epsom will do the same thing if you wanna save a few bucks. But if your water is even remotely decent then keep ur ph in check and monitor your plants, if they look mag def or get rust spots give em a shot, no need to give em cal/mag if they dont need it

Is it botanicare plus with iron? I'm not sure if you are concerned with Organics and your soil food web, but that brand has a synthetic chelating agent that disrupts microbial activity... Good luck

I find that tap water does not provide enough cal/mag at all for my plants and they go deficient... That is in my area of course...

This is what I have been finding out also, except it only happens with certain strains in my garden that happen to burn them up a bit quicker I guess :p

It is botanicare cal/mag plus, how negative effect am I looking at by using this?
Also I tested my tap water I've been using for the first time with the ph testing kit that comes with general hydroponic's ph up/down kit and with 4 drops (it says 3-5) I had the color matching 7.0, maybe a little bit higher, ph.
I have a ph meter on the way and am looking foward to step my skills up to the next level by always having correct ph/ppm to keep deficiencies at bay.

Yep, my tap water eliminates cal issues for me, just depends on the source. Iv run several different nute lines with my tap water with no problems, yet I run em with ro or di il need cal/mag.
