Hard Ash?!?!

So a few times now ive had joints where the ash is hard, hardly flicks off the joint and blacker than normal ash.

The weed that i rolled was perfectly dry, but didnt burn amazingly. Did many checks for sand, lead ect as i live in the uk and we still have alot of contaminated shit going around. Didnt have any different noticeable different texture and not very dense buds. This has only happened a few times and ive never bought a large weight of this stuff as im sceptical. It just seems strange to me

Dose anyone know the causes of this? Is it harmfull?

it wasn't flushed of nutes. the ash should burn clean and white.

It definaly cant be doing u any good cos ur smoking the chemicals that the grower added to the plant,
ive had a couple of joints like this aswell and its always fucking harsh on ur throat

If you ever have Spice Gold, the ash is hard, but it is really smooth on your throat. Does this mean it has loads of chemicals in it or something that is dodgy and shouldn't be smoking?

this thing with the ash going rock hard on the end of yr splif is common enough here in the uk, if you buy off your average street thief.. i dont know what causes it, and respect to fdd, but i'm sure it's more than just lacking a flush - i've come across this a fair few times and i'm sure it's some moody adulterant or suchlike.. there is ALOT of shitty, wet, unfinished, fucked-with weed here in the uk

that's kinda what i meant. it has something it in. whether it be nutes or urine or god knows what, it wasn't rinsed of this before drying.

could even be something sprayed on it towards the end. maybe someone had a mildew problem and dosed it with a mildew sray, neem oil, cottonseed, could be anything. could be dead spidermites. ................

could be just really resinous pot and you're rolling it too tight. Try breaking it up better and rolling it more loose - if you cant manage that add some tobacco and roll a spliff. If there is so many nutes in the bud that its not smoking through then it would be popping like crazy on you also and taste terrible.

im smoking shit now that has hard ash and definitely tastes off so it wasint flushed. kind of disappointing it would have been very nice because it still gets me wasted.

when i finish a bowl i'm left with clean white ash that disappears when smeared in my palm.

I've had lots of weed like that.... it's the kind that when u load a bowl and take a hit, it burns ur lips. I've noticed something similair to what fdd was sayin, whith really good cron, it seems to burn blacker and blacker as the bowl progresses. Then when it's gone, nothing but a chalk-like ash remains which is easily blown out and it's time to puff again. Puff, puff pass...

Dude sand? Lead?!?! WTF is going on in the UK? Contaminated weed?!?! Hearing that stuff makes me want to kick people in the crotch. I guess drugs are bad for you in the UK. Thank god I live on the west coast of the US where the weed rocks they let you grow it if your willing to " pay your yearly tax" It's $280 for the year with the doc visit and paying Oregon.

yeh seriously the Uk weed situation is HORRIFIC to say the least,ive had this shit before,looks da bomb,loads of 'crystals' on it,but it smokes like shit,tastes like shit,and doesnt get you high

ive just stopped buying from 'dealers' now,they are fucking useless,all about getting it from friends who know good growers,theres only 1 guy i know that ill buy from now,£25 on the eighth always,but its always killer dry,properly cured,and gets you high as a motherfucker,problem is its not all the time(as in he cant get it all the time)

It could be the finer grade of silica spray they (mainly vietnamese gangs) have turned to using. You can't detect it with the normal grit tests I.E. licking your finger, rubbing it on the bud and then rubbing it on your gums because it's so fine. FDD is right though, it should be a chalky white ash. If it isn't chalky white, don't buy anymore. I don't have this problem though, I grow my own and you should too

I was hoping it was something less horrific like sugar solution. It made sense, as burning a sugar compund would caramelise it and make the tobacco ash hard. I remember 2-3 years back getting perfectly dry stuff that would not burn and completely fucked the ash up so even the tobacco went solid.

Recently I keep getting this stuff irregularly thats basically a bit damp and doesnt get any drier as if its got some kind of hygroscopic compound added to it. It makes the ash a bit harder, not as bad as the stuff 2-3 years ago but still shit.

10 years back when it was the transition from most people smoking solid to skunk all you ever got was nice smoke. Occassionally you'd get an average bit but mostly it all tasted like it looked/smelled. These days it all tastes average, even when it smells good.

The fuckin mass growers are ruining the one thing I truly love and I'm in no position to grow. Ultimately, its the governments fault for not making it legal to grow personal. That'd cut out the criminal element and make things better for us all.

The cause is the weed is contaminated most of the time is spayed with sugar and water but sometimes can be sand and glass I've heard, the next time for see ash hard try rubbing the ash between two fingers if ash stays dry your good if turns to oil almost like waste engine oil the more you rub bin it it's contaminated I find this way a sure sign hope this helps you
