• hey guys,

i've run into a problem with my grow. my plants will be ready to harvest in a couple of days but i'm leaving the country for 4 weeks. do you think i would be able to harvest the buds and keep them in air tight containers for 4 weeks until i come back and then dry and harvest them properly? i've never encountered this problem before.

    what do you guys think?

I wouldn't. You're asking for mold. If anything I would dry it for that time and worry about curing when you return. Thats just me...

Hmmm, I have never seen this question posed before.

And I'm not sure there's a proper answer. You would have to hear from someone who's navigated such a problem before, hopefully successfully.

The only possible solution which comes to mind would be a quick dry, air tight containers, refrigerate.

You are not going to end up with connoisseur weed but hopefully you could salvage the situation.

And I agree with the previous fellow, the method you proposed would be a recipe for coming back to air tight containers full of mould.

i guess i could leave it to dry while im gone, but i can only dry outdoors. the weather is generally consistent but it could still rain so im worries the buds might get ruined. i just thought that storing them inside would be less risky than leaving them outdoors

Risky.

I still prefer my option over yours.

Come on guys we’ve got a brain teaser here, options welcome.

Let’s send this guy away happy.

With good behavior he could be out in 3 weeks.

If this was my problem? And I had 4 days to dry the buds first? I'd stick 'em in the freezer and be on my way for 4 weeks "out da country". :blsmoke:

Dont harvest. Let them dry out in the pots.

They are probably not done anyway ; )

Letting them dry out in the pots is a SLOW dry, and it might be your best option. Water before you go, then just let them dry out.

As for putting them in the freezer ... I was going to make ice hash out of my trim so I threw it in the freezer. Then I tried to do it with some of the trim and realized I SUCK at making hash. Plan B was dry the trim and vape it. So I took out the frozen trim and did as much of a slow dry as I could. It took a few days, no mold -- and it's GREAT for vaping! Since that's the trim, the bud might be good for smoking.

So you could harvest, throw it in the freezer and then try to slow dry when you come back. But allowing it to dry out in the pots might be better. Good luck!

Had a friend of mine (not the sharpest crayon in the box) "forgot" about one of his plants and left it out in the garage with no light, no water, no nothing all winter. It gets very cold here in the winter. Last week he went out there to think about starting up a spring grow and lo and behold there sat that one plant... purple as hell, completely dried, and pretty damn dank under the circumstances. My vote goes to MYOB's suggestion of just letting the dry out in the pots.

dry indoors if you can. You can always cure when you get back. Throw in a citrus leaf to the jar with the bud and it will help moisten it up. Not the best way, but...

yeadude, u cant leave them outsdie for a month and leave, they wont be there when u get back or will be garbage when you do, i would suggest either A. drying them right now ASAP like 1 or 2 days before u leave, make sure they are dry enoug hand then jar for a month until u get back maybe a family member open and close the jars everyday if u can or B. chop them all down and leave them hung upside down without any leave cut off and leave for a month, when u get back put them into jars ASAP and maybe mist or put a little moist paper towel with them to maybe give them some water back, i dont know this isnt a good sitatution no matter how you look at it

the option of juist letting them go and dry out in the pots may be viable as well, im not sure as ive never done it, good luck,.

I was in the same situation and I used the freezer; hung everything for 2 days then put all the buds in a cardboard box, wide open, came back 4 weeks later pulled out the box, let it sit until room temp then rolled one up and enjoyed.
