Harvest weather questions!

I had a couple outdoor harvest questions I could use some insight on.

- Now that the weather is going to significantly cool down where I am about 12 degrees during the day and colder at night and the days are rainy every day - do I harvest a little bit early or do I wait? After two days from now I'll be away for about a week so I don't know if I should let them suffer outside in the rain a week or harvest early?

- also, I keep reading everywhere that you need to harvest them when it hasn't been raining and they are dry ideally but currently it is raining every day so what's the best way to deal with that?

Take them and dry them before they rot.. don't over think it, it's like fruit when it's ready you pick it..

Thanks but if they are physically not ready yet like still tons of white hairs where should be brown should I still pick everything even though there might be sunny bits during the rainy days...

If you leave them in the rain they will most likely rot and you will end up with nothing..I would pick them or tarp them and hope for the best

Some are in containers that I can carry would it make any sense to bring them indoors where there is no grow lights but maybe can let them dry for a couple days before chopping?

Ya, sure, good idea. Or carry them to a make shift greenhouse you put up, or a pop up gazebo, cheap craigslist carport 200 bucks, or a makeshift structure with some tarps over it. Whatever you have to do just keep them dry.

Unless your going through a hurricane I wouldn't worry about them, I've been getting rain past few days and like you I could harvest but am waiting out. Personally for the past 2 weeks I've been taking buds that are mature and drying them out the smoke is really good, I have quite a big crop so it's up to you if you are ready to trim off any. I suggest if they are still all white let them be. If your going away tie them up a bit better they can take quite a bit of Mother Nature. Check weather for the week your going away. I wouldn't suggest bringing them indoors at this point possibly under a shelter outside, anyways

I see other guys on here using leaf blowers to dry them out ?...maybe a tarp but use a leaf blower first ?

I personally would wait until you got back...a week can make a huge difference in both yield and potency. what strain are you growing? some strains are less prone to the bud rot.

How dense are the buds? if they're solid beer can sized buds I'd pull them. If they're more slender/airy sativa like flowers I'd leave them to mature because they're far less likely to rot.

What're the average day/night temps? anything under 14 or 15c isn't sufficient enough to mature properly.

I'm in Michigan and this weather is getting shitty, i was thinking the same shit. Cause the next week is rain every other day. I just hope it ain't no all day heavy shit. The last storm beat the fuck outta my ladies. Shit the highs are going to be in the high 60's for about 2weeks. Next season i will have a hoophouse 4 sure.

Fuck it bro, do like Craxykiwi420 said, and leave em. Unless they are already big and dense, I'd leave them. I always leave mine until after mid October, around the 12-17 we usually get a break from the rain for a couple days. Go ahead and enjoy yourself, they will be fine until you get back. Even if you get some rot, most the flowers should be fine. I have gotten some rot on the very tops/tips but it was well worth the week or two in swelling and maturing of the cola's.

If doable, fans would be more benefit than cover. I agree with those that suggest waiting. If you are really paranoid, take a couple plants and let them dry and cure while you're gone. This will tell you which choice is better. If you get a chance, you could send me a few billion gallons of your excess water. We can use it.(Central California)

Thanks everyone for the responses! I ended up harvesting some and leaving some as well! The weather was so intense and the forest was even flooding for a bit it was crazy! The trichomes are still only like 1 percent amber max, if barely.. one plants been going for five months crazy how it's still not done!

One more question:

If the days are overcast/bright but no sun will the buds/trichomes mature at all?

Trichomes will finish unless mold invades.
