Harvesting Male Pollen

I'm attempting to grow 2 females and 1 male in close proximity to eachother. I have the male plant trimmed so only the top few nodes still have fan leaves; trying to control the bud sites. Also the male has been LST'd away from the pot so he is clear from the two girls. I plan to harvest the male, while keeping my females virgins.

My question is:

How can you tell the maturity of a pollen sack? How early can/should I harvest them?
I'm aware of videoman's tutorial on HOW to harvest, I'm just wondering for general maintenance and eventual harvest.

Any advice?

I have pictures, I will put them up tomorrow if this thread actually takes and people have interest. Cheers.

hi ,i wouldnt advise growing a male anywhere near the females ...not even in the same room really (unless you want seeds in your bud ?) the pollen can travel over a very long distance,it has been known for females to get polinated by males that were in a completely different part of the house.

its very hard to tell when the sacks will shoot there load as they can all burst at different times so thats another reason to seperate it from the girls .i dont really know what to suggest as i just slaughter males as soon as they show ,but if it was me id get the male seperated from your fems .

the male pods will swell, then they burst open, then there are little yellow banana like flowers hanging, then those open. when the actual flower opens your pollenated. if you trim the swollen pod before it's initial opening you should be ok. you sound as if you have a good idea what you are doing. so just keep a close eye on it.

if the claw is open, it is most likely releasing at that point. i try to pluck them just before the shell cracks on the main pod. if you pinch them they shoudl burst open into a puff of powder.

So essentially you will be plucking the swelled pods and waiting for more to swell...
