harvesting queries

Hey there fellow growersI have a question regarding harvest. My current grow is pretty much ready for harvest. I'm giving it a week or two. Recently it has started making new white pistils and people tell me that it DOES go through a second white pistils development and then it gets even more crystals. Now, the plant already is covered in trichomes and all the normal things. My question is, do I wait for the second set of pistils to go 70%brown before harvest??? I would rather ask experts before following the man on the streets advice. BlessingsHein

Ok looks really close but to be honest a photo is very inaccurate to judges from. The only true way of knowing with accuracy is to look at the resin heads themselves. You won't be able to see them clearly enough with anything smaller than 60x zoom. I'm actually wanting to upgrade on that because it's workable but still tiny to see with ease.

The resin heads start clear then get cloudy and then turn amber. Clear mean immature and milky is when the thc is the resin heads is reaching its peak maturation. By the time a resin head turns amber it has reached its peak and is starting to break down thc in to other chemicals. There is no right answer other than that. Some people like me aim to pull it just before/as the heads are turning amber to get the full strength without breaking down the thc. Other people like the druggy stone of a fair percentage of their resin heads turning amber. You Will have to experiment to see what you like.

If you google you will see picture references on when the heads are "cloudy" or what not.

One last thing it seems that the leaves close to the bud get amber triches first before the bud. That's another tool I use to judge. If the leaf is mature enough to be moving from cloudy to amber then the bud can be assumed to be reaching its peak but not over ripe yet.

Thanx a lot bro. I was just on the web now looking for a jewelers loupe. Will defiantly invest in one. So by the looks of things I am gonna give it another week or 2, but I will check on it every day or every second day. Depends on when I get home. I water cured one of the smaller buds about 2 weeks ago and puffed it last week. And I have to say I enjoyed it very much. she is quite a strong lady. Now if I leave it a bit longer to "mature" more, it will make her only that much stronger???Mmmm, can't wait to get her in my bong again.

the longer you wait for those hairs to brown, then more potent your herb will be. Id let the strain go until 90% brown hairs but it looks like she is going to foxtail so might be a little harder to trim but you will get more weight.

I have never used a loupe before so I have no idea. But if you say a 30 x would do, who am I to argue.
