Has anyone heard of Air Flushing?

I've heard but not tried. This is a hydro technique. 72 hrs before harvest, drain all water and leave the roots in the air. Keep the whole plant in the dark for that time. Seems to me the only difference between this and a flush with plain water, is that the plant won't uptake any plain water and will begin to dry, a good thing.

Some might say the plant needs the water to leech yukky tasting compounds into, but do they really do that? Others might say they need to uptake the water which seems viable to me, but I don't really see how it helps anything.

I thought air flushing was when you didnt flush at all. A bit like air guitar. ....... lol

i'm not a big believer in flushing at all to begin with as the stuff people say that they're flushing out of the buds, is never in the buds to begin with.. nutrients and the like aren't stored in the buds, but rather in the root system, so i could never understand the benefit of flushing.. i think it's one of those wifes tales that has gotten blown wayyyy out of proportion with the advent of the internet amongst other things...
but what do i know, not much most days..

i do like the idea of the air flushing as it gives the buds a chance to dry out some before chopping which should speed up the drying process, which can only be a good thing imo..

The plant will process the remaining liquid in roots and will start to dry, yes. But with no pure water to FLUSH itself completely, any nutes or what ever combo of " seasonings" you have been using will all still be in the plant!!! I along with a few others, run a distilled water flush after every 4 / 5 feedings thru entire growth cycle. Also cut the instructed ratios of additives by 20%. It`s better for the plants and helps reduce problems down the road. If you loss anything as far as weight / yeild of the plant, it is so little compared to the elimination of the BULLSHIT things that go wrong and complicate your grow! The plant is being supported by the nutes and stuff. Not being poisoned by them because the levels of contant of nutes CANT become to high. Cutting back eliminates whole bunch of headaches and if you have a great seed or cutting. The plant is going to kick ass anyway and all the natural goodness of the plant comes out. KEEP IT CLEAN!!!!
