I had two GSC clones from a friend I threw in the med cabinet with the rest. They both were one of the tastiest smokes ive grown! However the plants just never really grew. I grow indoor in soil, Have both HPS/MH and LED for lighting. They never had too many issues except for needing some extra N at times in veg. Id say under an ounce per. I can usually pull 2-3.5 depending on veg/training. For those who have grown this strain is it typically a lower yeilding plant? Whats the tips on this strain as far as growing in soil? And lastly, what strains migjt have a comparable taste? The other girl scout strains seem.to be more towards the mint. This was more like a shortbread cookie lol.
GSC will surprise you. I have a beautiful Sour Diesel and a beautiful Girl Scout Cookie plant, both grown from clones. I was reluctant to grow GSC because of anecdotal evidence that it was not a high yield performer. Also, it is mostly Indica and I prefer Sativas. Both clones were the same size when I got them.
They both started flowering at the same time.

GSC will surprise you. I have a very nice Sour Diesel plant and a very nice GSC plant, both grown outdoors in soil in very large pots (25 liters or more). Both were clones and were the same size when I got them. They both started flowering in early August, and a first I worried about the GSC because it totally lagged behind the Diesel. I was reluctant to even grow the GSC due to anecdotal claims that it didn't have great yields.
At first, the Diesel ran way ahead of the GSC. It looked like the claims that GSC had low yields would prove to be true. However, in the past two weeks, the GSC has exploded. It went from some rather pathetic looking buds to full on flower like overnight. Also, it had a major stretch. I mean like a foot of stretch. At this point, it has overgrown the Diesel. Now I did top the Diesel, but did not top the GSC. So the Diesel is definitely more bushy with more tops. And by the way, it's a gorgeous plant that clearly is going to be high yield. You won't go wrong with Diesel.
But, the GSC has some seriously long buds, because I never topped it, and they are looking very Afat. It's actually amazing how quickly they went from anemic to fat. It's clear I will definitely get a nice harvest from it.
So, do not believe what you hear about GSC and yields. If you treat the plant right it will definitely produce. My only tips would be, be careful of overwatering and go a bit heavy on the notes because she can handle it.
Also, I grew in soil in very large pots (25 liters or more), and in Maine, with full sun all day long. I used the Growth Science Nutrients Starter Pack. It's very cheap but definitely works well. Just don't be afraid to go a bit heavy on it. I had to up the nutes shortly after flower because I had too many yellow leaves on both plants. I increased the flowering nutes by 1/3 over the manufacturer recommendations and the plants loved it. Wish I had gone heavy from the start but even so, I have two gorgeous plants so I can't complain!
