Having A Chair Built

I think i'm going to have a chair built. I have been looking online for a nice comfortable chair and their not cheap. I think I want a Leather Chaise Lounge Chair but i'm not sure If I should get that or a chair with an ottoman or a reclining loveseat? online you can't really get a good feel for what it feels like the quality and what not. today I was in the neighborhood and stopped in a little furniture store and talked to the chick working their and she had a couple chaise lounge chairs but not like I want and she said she could build me one and quoted me a price a couple hundred less than what I was looking at at Macys. I'm not sure if she builds the whole thing or just recoveres something or modifies it or what I'm going back to talk to her this weekend. I want the most comfortable chair what should I tell her? This lady seemed cool and shes local so I would like to give buisness to her but what is your opinion on buying from her vs Macys?

I would go with the local shop...

Always better to support the small shops and help the local economy opposed to giving the big box stores more money and them sending it over seas

I'll bet it's a custom order fabric for a major name brand. It's pretty common nowadays. I'd recomend this though. Test drive a showroom model first. There are comfortable chairs and then there are comfortable chairs. It would suck for you to shell out all that cash for a custom made seat and then find out you hate it.

As for this thing, It looks like something off the set of 2001: A Space Odyssey

"HAL. Pack the space bong and order widdly scuds."
"I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that..."

About 2 years ago I was looking into buying a chair, well a swivel rocker recliner to be exact. The one I wanted ,which I believe was a Barqalounger(sp?) was going to be like $1300 optioned out(leather, heat, cool, massage). Now thats a ton of cake for a chair, but with good care theres no reason it wouldnt last years. My father has a LazyBoy that lasted almost 20yrs-again well cared for,no pets or kids on it-only him, conditioned the leather every yr or two. At that time I didnt have the $$, I still want one,and could even afford it now, just cant seem to find another like that.

Out of curiosity, how much to have a custom chair made?

That's whats got me tripped out is that I was looking at one, they wanted $999 on sale at Macys-I didn't buy it now they want $1299 looks like what I think I want but it's not in stock near by so I can't get an idea of how it really is, just see it online. I think I want a chaise lounge but then I'm wondering if I always want to be lying down and having to get up and down out of one. I stopped in this place and this rockabilly chick is running it and I told her I wanted a Chaise she had one looked nice but it was white and had no arms and I told her I wanted one with arms and she showed me one with one arm that was part of a couch and said she could make one with both arms, then she said for $675 and I was in a hurry and couldn't talk she wanted to give me a card and I told her i'm right up the street and I would come back and she said since I'm in the neighborhood she could do a little better on the price. Shes talking 675 for a custom built black leather chaise lounge, I'm curious if she builds it from ground up or refurbishes? and i'm wondering if shes building it if I can tell her it has to be built extra strong so Andre the Giant could fuck on it and with the softest leather and cushion or stuffing- What do you think? I'm going to try to find out more this weekend.
I think I want one like this.

Thats exactly what i'm thinking, I can go in their and be nice, she quoted me a good price and then said she could do better as I left so when I go back I will ask a bunch of questions and then if I like what she says then I will agree to get the chair and I will give her a deposit and then make ridiculous demands of durability and comfort and quality and then I will tell her to take her time and give me a call when it's ready and I will check it out and if it's nice you can drop it off and I'll pay you. I should then get an awesome chair and be able to act like it has a life long warranty and customer service.

Anymore help on the ultimate chair? I want to miss this chair when I'm not home and I want to desire to sleep in in instead of going to bed and I want it to be impressive and comfortable, I want to almost want to piss myself instead of getting up because the chair is so comfortable.

Beardo you seem like the type of guy who supports his community so next bulk trash day get a truck a grab every chair you see on the sidewalk.
Invite some friends over and you guys can judge which one is most comfortable. You might end up keeping them all.

How about building in some kind of custom stash box in the arm of the chair? Something to hold your pieces, maybe a built in screen you can break your green on, with a mirror at the bottom for collecting your keif!
