So I have been running a 250w HPS light in my closet with no problems, then about a day ago I added another 250w light to my setup and within a few hours my circuit breaker switch flipped off for my room with the grow closet, I turned on and 30min later it fliped again? Since I know the added light is causing this happen I need some advice on how to fix this problem? The grrow closet is in a room with lots of other powered devices TV, CPU, Xbox, 6 fans, portable ac unit etc so will running power from another rooms outlet solve my problem? Any help appreciated!

put your a/c unit to another plug thats on a different breaker..

or place all the wire to 12/2 wire thats on that run of plugs and replace the breaker with 20amp break...and no dont just change the breaker

:) id just put it on another breaker..alot of work

Its seems my room and my roomates room are connected since power went out in both rooms? I have another outlet in the attic above my closet anychance this would be on a seperate circuit? Sorry but I'm know nothing about electric so bare with me on this subject, what I want to know is if this outlet in the attic is not part of the circuit powering both rooms will that solve my power issue?

If you have to use an extension cord, do not use a cheap skinny one. You'll burn your house down. Go out and buy a good one if you have to. If the attic circuit stays on when the other rooms go out, then yeah it's on a different circuit.

Highly unlikely... The electrician would of used the same light circuit (15 amp) that your bedroom is on, because it's right there. BUT, you'll never know unless you check....

Okay so my final question is if this outlet in the attic is off another circuit will running my lights to that outlet solve my overamp problem?

Unless that circuit is loaded too, yes.... A 15 Amp circuit can technically carry 1800 watts, however we try to keep it around 1500 when planning circuits in grow rooms, to allow for a load surge when lights come on for example.

He is correct 1800 is on break side i mean you will be running it hot al you can do is try it in attic an hope it doesnt break but if you got AC that alone is prob 1000w but chances of goin out an spending 25.00 on a 20 amp breaker will solve your issues

So your saying I can spend 25 bucks on another circuit breaker???? How much will it cost roughly to have it installed anyone know? Id rather do that than worry bout my house burnin down.

You can't just switch out the breaker. The house wiring for the circuit is very likely not heavy enough to take additional current.

you do not run a 20 amp breaker on 14 wire.. you need 12

If you dont understand electrical.. dont play with it. I would lower the power you are using or run a new circuit to the closet. T5's maybe then you wont need the a/c

Nah don't think I will be doing that as the lights I'm using now are producing incrediblle results, but I did call a local ellectrician to come install a dedicated circuit. It just so happens my circuit breaker is located in my room with the ac so he can install for a really good price, I'm gonna have him run the portable ac on this dedicated circuit and that should take care of any power problems.

Oh and btw portable ac units run a 1000 watts! I had no idea it was that much???? Oh well live and learn, thanks for all the input guys I will update everyone on how it goes when done.
