how is it coming along over there
i am pretty sure my lack of knowledge with high humidity killed my beans. I got most everyt thing to setup my ghetto hydro. I figure i will do the cabinet around the setup as well as my small space.

The humidity is a biyatch over here that is for sure.

Ventilation and moisture HIGH concern. Pardon the pun.

Peace.

That sucks. How did they die? I dont use a dehu and i live in the most humid and coldest place on oahu, literally lol. Water timing and ppm level is extra crucial out here especially on hot days. What size pots you got?

The five beans cracked as normal in a cup of water. Then I put them in rapid rooters(first time use) under a dome. I noticed nothing was happening and things seemed too moist. I checked the first one..totally mush. Pissed me off.

Next go round, cup of water and straight to my coir mix in cups.

I have left the remaining ones in the RRs and took the dome off. Doubtful, but will see what happens. Otherwise Santa is bringing me some...discretely ;)

Any ideas or suggestions of Guru of the 808?

Ok, I've had perfect luck with just dropping beans in forgiving soil and the only thing i do for the next 15 days is water when dry. No need any of that dome crap, they will just damp off very quickly if used. Keep temps at 70-80f and humidity from 50-80 (try to keep it below 80%) if above 60% use a fan to swing air around. Im no guru btw, i have ALOTTTT to learn

Yea, I did the same thing last run with a couple seeds.
Too wet soaking in the paper towel.
Now I drop em in a cup of water for 24 hours then keep them in a DAMP paper towel for another day then gently nestle them (taproot down) in some rockwool cubes that have been soaked in Ph'd water then sat on a paper towel to drain a bit.

I don't know if I would soak them in Cal-Mag but a LITTLE root starter should be good.
I use GH Rapidstart root enhancer.
Remember that the seed has enough food on board to last several days to a week.
I give only GH RS the first week, then I go VERY easy on the nutrients for the 2nd week.
Then, it's ON !
I will say tho that I have no experience with the rapid rooters...?

Hey man good luck to your seeds!
Saw an ad on craigslist today, someone in kaimuki in need of some herb lol I thought of you. Have you decided what lighting situation you're going with? I plan on ordering some diy LED gear soon if you want to go in on shipping

Thats funny...Craigslist. I saw those ads and wonder who the?

RIght now I am testing one of the autos and a bunch of my super hots (peppers). My second Oahu venture is going way better.
THANKS SINGLE SEED CENTRE!!

Here is an update BTW:
1. Prepared a 1 Gal Jug mix of Rapid Start and AN CalMag into a 5 gal bucket (City Mill of course).
2. Dropped a bunch of Rapid Rooter plugs to soak it up.
3. Filled a shot glass with some of the same mix.
4. Dropped the seed into the shot glass.
5. 12 hrs later, after the seed sunk, I put it straight into a mildly wrung out RR plug. The Same day, I dropped all my other girls(Peppers) too.

BOOM! Lil bastage popped right on up. They all did. Never saw such a thing.

For now a UFO 135W will be it. The autoflower is supposed to go mad with LEDs. We'll see. The closet/tent is next on the list. I am tossing the coin on a 4x4 tent or a wardrobe at hotel liquidator. I will need to get it this weekend. Definitey Need it this weekend. Leaning on the tent for the right now. That way I can put time into a "Closet".

Dude I am so down for that. Where and what are you looking towards? Specs...yada yada. If we put our brains together with another 808 type lurking here...SPL. I bet we can design something kickstartable.

I will get some pics up ASAP.

Peace

Alrighty gang,

I went to Green Hands and picked up one of the used gorilla tents, snagged a 2x4 Gorilla Lite....$100. Then headed over the Ohana Greenhouse got the rest of my nutes and miscellaneous goodies. I will be charging my chow mix for transfer.

The weird thing is when I picked up the tent, i asked about a fan. The guy asked me why I was gonna run a fan in the tent. Is it me, or was that an odd question from a grow shop?

More to follow...prepare for some ghetto hillbilly ingenuity. Thanks for the help guys..lets see what I can do.

Peace

Maybe he's suggesting that you want to keep the heat in the tent to reduce RH. It's a complete misconception that cold dehumidifies; the exact opposite is the case. I'm just guessing though.

It's kind of an odd question from a grow shop. You dont want mold spores hanging out in your tent and you definetly dont want transpiration issues on a hot day. Those series of hurricanes set our humidity and temps to 85f 80-100rh for a whole month. Not sure if you remember that but no way no how my plants would have survived without a dehumidifier during that time.

I think he thought I was just vegging...let me ask this:

Do carbon cans actually work or is it more hype with tents? I for one want fresh air as much as possible.
I came across some other lights, but for now nothing more than a 130W Apollo from Craigslist and two 23w EQ to 100W CFL in 6500 range. So I dont think heat will be any issue.

Just weird.
