Head VS head

After nearly 3 years on this site I've come to the ingenious conclusion that discussion on this site absolutely doesn't change one goddamn thing. The right stays right, the left stays left. There is no merging of Ideas, just a constant battle. One side claims to have the answers and the other side does also. It is a constant battle of one-upmanship. Ego VS ego. I've yet to really see one person change their views about anything. I guess you players find this entertaining, but Myself, I find it boring. If there could be some merging, cooperation, or just plain saying, geeze, you know what, I was wrong about that, I could see some value in this "Discourse". But Both sides are so vehemently opposed that it is a fuckfest, like 3rd grade, I know you are but what am I. I now view this site (Politics) as mostly comic structure and intend to drop by occaisionly to comment on a subject, like health care, but the old days of arguing with brickheads are over. Feel free to berate me and my Ideas, "I know you are but what am I"?

I'm just wondering...
Do any of you political forum guys grow weed?
I only ever see you all post in the political part of the forum
I don't understand why you wouldn't just join a political forum site instead of just arguing with stoners for years
It doesn't bother me but I just couldn't understand why you would join a marijuana growing site to talk about politics...?

medicineman i agree. it's a true shame this will never change. a man should never think he knows it all, that's how we got into this mess to begin with.

I had to step back from it all too though. It got to me sooooo bad I couldn't sleep at night and I was always angry. Pulling back a bit from the politics forum helped me out.

And yes I think those of us who are on the politics forum do grow weed. I do and medman did at one time.

your just now coming to this conclusion?

i have known this for a while, i use the internet to voice my opinion, find what the opposition is, and then hopefully develop a counter to any rhetoric that does not support my views

sometimes my views change, but rarely

I grow weed and have for a VERY long time. With that said, this political forum is a form of entertainment for me. I also find that it improves my writing ability and clarity of thought. One thing I REALLY enjoy is sticking a red-hot poker into the sacred oxen of guys like Med-'O'Mao. If it weren't for guyz like me in opposition to the statists of this world, we would be living in absolute economic slavery. I mean, SOMEONE has to counter their totalitarian ways, right?

Hi med,
Interesting thread.
Being a political junkie and a news hound, I naturally gravitate towards the political forum here at good old RIU.

The clash of different ideas and world views is quite entertaining to me.
I occasionally find an idea which challenges my notion of the way things are.
Unfortunately some of the posters here seem more interested in engaging in a name calling competition instead of a contest of ideas.
I enjoy political discourse from the vantage point of an altered state of consciousness (praise be to ganja).
It is simply entertaining and amusing to me.

I am certainly not a crusader for any cause, I am here simply because I like it!

I also think that the average age of the regular contributors to this forum is substantially higher than the other forums, and being a relative geezer I find this sort of pleasant.

I have been growing my own buds longer than the majority of the RIU members have been alive...(I think)

med-man, you never seem to understand this:

u'll never find piece of mind in any political discussion until you can scrap this ridiculous "right vs left" battle you have going on in your head

peace out

Exactly ... and how many times have we said that? Its not about Right vs Left, its about liberty vs tyranny.

The thing being, it's always VS-BS. BTW your vision of liberty doesn't include poor people. You are an elitest. There are 11,907 posts to confirm this phenomenom.

Liberty is essential to my well being. In order to ensure my liberty, I must grant others the same, and I do. If a person has a live and let live attitude that is a good moral basis in my opinion. If a person thinks that they or government can and should run my life I'm going to have a hard time with them or their posts. Controlling other people is not my thing as long as they are leaving me and others alone. I'm not anti-social, I'm anti busybody. Too bad more people don't feel the same way...Just saying.

So i guess you swithed them around Aye'
Aye, Mate ... a few, but no luck with Med 'O-Mao.

Med's of the mindset that the poor will always stay poor. I'm of the mindset that if we keep government out of the way and let the free market work, the poor will have a better chance of climbing that stairway to the stars.

Liberty is a term reserved for the well off. The rest of us are way too busy trying to survive. Once one has achieved financial freedom, then liberty becomes a large concern, The rest of us are just trying to survive the calamity that is everyday life. Ranting about liberty pretty much confirms your status as an elite.

Just have fun and do what you gotta do to be happy and survive, however fit it may be. But don't tell me what I can and can't do, as long as I'm not fucking anyone over or hurting anyone, I'm Free! and High!

Welcome back, Med.

Huffingtonpost.com get too boring?

The right to express one's opinion does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously.

You of all people should have figured that out a long time ago.
