Is it true… Could pot now be laced with fentanyl?

That’s the claim Premier Christy Clark is making, as she takes her pitch for more help in the opioid crisis to Ottawa.

Speaking to reporters today, Clark said the toxic narcotic had turned up in pot seized by Vancouver cops.

“Vancouver police did a major seizure, they found cocaine with fentanyl, heroin with fentanyl, methamphetamine with fentanyl and marijuana with fentanyl,” she said.

It’s a worrying claim. And one that’s news to Vancouver Coastal Health’s Chief Medical Health Officer Patricia Daly.

“I can only speak for what we know in the Vancouver Coastal Region and we haven’t had any reports of fentanyl contamination of marijuana here at this point,” she said.

She says from a medical standpoint, officials can’t trace the drug backwards from the system of an overdose victim – but from an administrative standpoint there’s been no word.

“Almost all of those who are dying of illicit drug overdoses have fentanyl in their system also have evidence of other drugs in their system. But certainly we’ve had no reports from the police or others that fentanyl has been found in any of the marijuana that’s sold here in the health authority,” she said.

Metro Vancouver’s other major health region, Fraser Health, says it hasn’t received reports of fentanyl appearing in marijuana either.

The Vancouver Police Department could not be reached for comment.

However, back in August, the VPD said testing had revealed the presence of fentanyl in virtually all street drugs – with the specific exception of marijuana.

how is this stuff getting into pot? this is why we need well regulated growers and the right to grow our own.

when i was a kid cannabis was laced with Angel dust but i never saw or knew anyone who got any....then it went to crystal meth...now it's fentanyl....in a few years it'll be something else.
nowhere have i heard of someone dying from using cannabis but if there was fentanyl, wouldn't someone somewhere have died?
they should stop talking about cannabis like it's a poison!

Its her fuckin words. WITH. Not IN. And Media run with it. Like the facebook sheep mentality.
So they found fentanyl in the same place as some guys weed, so it was WITH it. He probably had bacon and eggs WITH his fentanyl too, doesn't mean he is sprinkling it on his brekky. Fearmongering Reefer Madness.

to spike marijuana with.... hmmm
I would think this would take more work than the average chemistry grad would be willing to do...
considering what you would have as a result.... basically can't be worth it....

it would have to first be clandestine lab stuff .... and then with some precision diluted into a liquid form...
and then sprayed onto the pot....problem is that fentanyl is measured in mcg not mg ..so for sure there would be
very little chance of doing this accurately enough to not kill someone....even with tiny amounts .....there would always be a chance of a hot spot.....which, I would think, if smoked or ingested ... all at once would kill the opioid naive .

so unless your intention was to off someone.... maybe because they could not resist having a toke...
and you gave them the stuff....

"Fraser Health, says it hasn’t received reports of fentanyl appearing in marijuana either."

Lets face it ....fentanyl is a very dangerous opioid ...for those who do not already have a tolerance
to opiates,

I'm not surprised .... either...daily stories on the evils of fentanyl...have been appearing in the news for
about the last nine months... leading up to this weeks HC meetings on opioids being an "epidemic"....

sorta like with mmj.......they are trying to create an atmosphere ,for which they will be able to implement, new rules/regulations/guidelines... for opioid pain meds ..in general...

Again with the ...."WE NEED TO CREATE A CRISIS IN__________" (FILL IN THE BLANK....) IE ...EDUCATION/HEALTHCARE/NATIONAL SECURITY.....

the similarity is...in how HC has created an environment to reflect badly on the drug and its uses...
when ...just like with mmj ...most of the cases of harm ...stem from illegally obtained fentanyl from oversea's
just like the governments stats on mmj grows ....which were actually black market illegal grow stats....

It seems that no matter what they do..they just do not want to play fairly....
