Health plans paying for medical marijuana?

Is this something? I've only ever heard about veterans affairs paying for people that have PTSD to have medical marijuana. I can claim the amount I spend on taxes. But has anyone heard of someone's health plan/ insurance paying for the cost of medical marijuana?

No
And veterans are getting all kinds of barriers put up limiting them on gpd and costs per month.
The lps screwed themselves by trying to suck the golden eggs out instead of waiting for them to drop naturally.
Mj will never get a din number so no chance it's ever covered

Well it sure did help my tax return.

Always hoped insurance would cover it. It's a legitimate medical expense. Insurance covered other medications in the past that made me very ill. Why not the only one that made me better? Assholes.

Health Canada and the Canadian, American governments refuse to admit it has any medicinal value.
So no din number no coverage.
They would only cover lp crap anyway so might as well grow ur own and claim the costs as medical expenses.

a few are covering it but i think it's up to the plan purchaser.
there was a student who got it covered a few years back but i don't see it happening a lot.
a lot of plans are capped at $500k for lifetime payout...that might only take a few years through a LP....haha

You cannot grow your own and claim the costs on your income tax return in Canada. They will only allow you to claim the cost of seeds purcheased through Lp's, and maybe the expensive clones that they are now selling. Thats it. No deductions for lights, or electricity.............

If u set up a small business in your home office you could claim a percentage of all of it.
I have a family member under mmar that claims a ton and even gets returns.

I can't speak to the claim. But if someone says they know X, you have to wonder why not take it for face value instead of calling it a lie? A certain amount of informed pessimism is healthy, but calling balderdash all the time just drags out the meat of a conversation and digresses to "you are a liar". Often unnecessarily.

If you have a business and make your purchases through the business for equipment that has anything to do with the business you can claim all kinds of stuff. All my tech stuff like cameras, sensors, lights (they don't know or investigate that deep to know what the lights are used for) go through my capital. Seeds and some other expenses are stretching it and could get you flagged for an audit. But there's lots of other things you can claim, e.g. if you run a home business you could claim a portion of your hydro expense related to the amount space used in your "office". Key with any claims through a business is to keep them to a reasonable amount so as not to get flagged by CRA.

This is very clever. I'm going to have to read up on it.

If you go to do this, definitely worth a bit of up-front investment to talk to a good accountant, ideally someone you've known for a bit. Mine's worth a goldmine and fights CRA for shit when they try and screw me around.
