Heigth Flowering Question

Ok, so I have a grow box that has about 2.5 to 3 feet of height remaining depending on how full I fill the flood tubs, its a custom flood and drain tub....

I didnt really think about it as its my first design box but now im concerned about space. Kind of wish I would have stuck with DWC idea indead of this hybrid dwc ebb n flow lol. I would have had so much more growth space.. But now Ive bought a ton of tubs and my wife is getting mad about me buying so much DIY crap haha.

I have 2 150W HPS bulbs in a fan cooled tube.

How tall should I grow the plants before I flower them?

Anyone have experience with these size bulbs and space?

My first guess is to veg 1 ft and then keep at another 1 to 1.5 feet growth in flower with maybe a scrog style screen to help.

I am considering doing a Scrog due to space limitations...

Any tips for this newbie would be great.

Thank you

I would flower at between 6-8" depending on strain. You will wind up with 3' plants if you flower at 12"... Plus your lights aren't that strong so the less penetration the better. Try topping them at their 5th node and flowering 1 week later at around 8" you'll be happy.

Some quick additional questions? About how deep should I make the medium? I see a lot of flood and drain systems that seem to only have like 4-5 inches of hydroton rocks.

When I did a dwc a few years back I had root mass to fill almost a 5gallon bucket so this concerned me and I got tall tubs.

Is less root mass with this style of grow? If so how deep do you think I should allow the plants to go down?

I am still debating on doing 4-6 plants in flower. The floor space is 3 x 5.

Will I be better off doing 4 and manipulating the canopy to get better light or do 6 and keep them closer together and manipulate the canopy to fill the space?

*edit*
Also for the record I am doing bag seed this round before I get some lemon g and woody haze clones from a friend. Dont know if those are real strains or if he made that shit up.. but its good herb!

Moral of the story I don't know the strain so I dont know how tall it may grow in flower per the response of double to triple in size during flower

AND thank you very very much for your previous responses its much appreciated!

Just full of questions,
Was also curious if 2 x 150W HPS bulbs will be enough?

I did get 2 x 300 Watt CFL bulbs to assist in flowering as well.

it depends on how big the space is...you can use only one if you wanted to, on the plus side there would be a drop in electrical costs as well as heat, on the neg the buds will not be as "hefty" It just kind of depends on what your going for. There is a formula for finding out what light would cover what space and how much each plant gets and needs....
