helicopters recording heat

Ok, so in preparation for 'the room', I'm finding some slightly disturbing news about how much of a heat print this will put out.

It's going to be in the center of a 1500 sq ft workshop area, a nice new garage type looking place. I am currently getting it secure and starting with a 400w HPS and some other CFL's and growing lights I picked up along the way.

The lamps themselves will be about 10-15ft away from the ceiling which is plywood and shingles.

Let me know what you think I should do if anything... or am I just worrying for nothing.

just depends on were you live at if you live in norcal were the fucking camp choppers are always flying it may be a problem if not your fine and if you do decide on putting something up use the space blankets or the fire retartend ones they help block heat

get fans to dissapate heat over 1500 sq. ft. a small space heater is about 1500 watts? I really think you'll be o.k over 1500 sq. ft. If it was in the attic with 50 sq. ft. maybe be a little paranoid. just my opinion. good luck with the grow.

yeah, it's pretty roomy. The ceiling is about 15 ft or so, just 2x4 rafters. It is somewhat exposed to the natural air as there is no true insulation in the intended crop area.
gets here tomorrow! Haven't done anything to the seeds yet. Roseman and some others had said that the Bubbleponics system is better to start them from the seed right in it and I'm going to take his advice.

It's hard to keep it quiet around friends and certain family as I want to share, not profit. But I want to do it 'stealth' eh...

thanks=

look up dr bud greengenes at icmag.com he will show you a better way, I learned after I bought too much stuff, too much space, too much power, I thought T5 flouro and cfl were a joke, if done properly you could live off the grid like Dr Bud and still have a top producing SOG, and get everthing, except nutes at lowes
cheers

Not a problem.. I have a 400W in a 10x10 room.. stays about 8 degrees F warmer than the rest of the house. Never pick it up when you factor in the roof shingle heat, attic space, etc.

Someone else hit it.. someone seeing the light on at all hours is more of a tip than heat for your setup. If you're planning a building a "bank" of multiple lights, you may have something to think about heat-wise.

if you are not in a huge major city dont worry, if you are they need awarrant to do a fly by with heat detection equipment, if they get the warrant it means they have probably been watching you a while and in that case you are fucked anyway. just keep in mind that your oven, heater, water heater, dryer and furnace all use more power and put out more heat. way more. now if they busted down every house they flew over with a detectable heat signature they would be broke. you should be fine unless.......well youre in norcal, but still even then a large fan blowing directly on the bulb should lower temps enough to make it unnoticable. also if the garage is newer its probably insulated well , in which case you dont need to fret. choppers dont detect hot spots but rather hot leaks. if they see heat escaping or an area that is leaking along a wall (normally) then they'll be suspicious. but man i used to be so paranoid over this, then i read a thread on icmag from a guy who used the same equip the cops had and he couldnt even detect his own grow! lol

This makes me feel ton better. Mine is super small (3-4 of em) in a tiny, well vented cab. 7 or 8 degree's higher than my room temp. 4 CFLS. Guess I have nothin to worry about.

Thanks!

It is nice knowing that... I knew it wasn't that much lighting.

I'm worried about freezing them because I was going to put them in Rockwool inside the house, get 'em started, then transfer that to the Bubbleponics system outside, under 24/7 light which would be fairly hot. But I didn't know if it would be enough so I haven't started yet. Can't have the BP in the house. I have to put it outside, literally the shed. It's semi-sealed, and have a couple of spots for the lamp & apparatus.

Thoughts ? Advice ?

Thanks!

do you think putting them under a 400w hps light after they germinate out in the shed during mid-winter in Florida is enough to off-set the heat to make it a comfortable growing temp ?

Thanks-

yeah man, that was tight. It actually gave me all the information I needed to know. This one is going to be smack in the middle of a warehouse type garage system, not attached to the house but close. I'm not going to sell this stuff so there isn't that stress, and really the only thing I'm worried about is the cold weather for the next month.

If anyone can help.

What I'm thinking is that because it's generally in the 60's during the day right now, sometimes colder but not for very long, and the nights being in the 40's normally. Will it be ok to run a 400w hps bulb 24/7 to create not only light but also heat in a good way ?

Someone out there must know the answer to this... I don't want to have to start another thread and junk everything up.

Oh, and I don't know how to give 'rep' or whatever it is so.... lemme know.

Thanks-
