Hey everyone! Been lurking for a few weeks to learn and just got my baby plants yesterday! I'm in Maine, and now that weed is legal (since January) I found my nearest seed bank and brought home some little clones. I have: Cotton Candy, Super Silver Haze 1, and a Longbottom leaf.

My little ones are under a big CFL bulb, near an east facing window for their veg out stage, with 24/0 light. Later, they will be moved to a larger area for 12/12. They seem happy. The biggest of the bunch has six nodes and I pinched her little top to fim. I'm no stranger to growing plants like tomatoes, and oddly, I find these little Mary Jane's to be somewhat similar in needs.

Just thought it show my Littles, and keep an diary of my newb adventures!

Those'a preach'in stronger lighting are quite right Ma'm.... Take the time to review some differing lights. It do make me need to mention that you can do better then blurple LED, right off the bat.....Still, the best advise will come from us a know'n a how big that new bloom area might be. So some dimensions would be a right hep'ful....What your intend'in ta spend and how cool ya kin keep it! ;-)

I get nice dense buds, from burple leds just saying:mrgreen::peace:. I cant afford a cob Real shit, but i love to grow so i work with what i got and make the best of it. 2 mars 300 or 2 vipar 300 are better then nothing.Imo:lol::joint:
Oh no, absolutely!! I'm not knocking anyone's grows, more just giving some advise. If that's what you have def by all means. I just know that there are a lot of folks like me who have tried almost every grow style, product, lamp, nute line etc that if I can help someone get right to it without the learning curve then I feel I've helped someone. I own 2 mars and 2 meihzi 300's. I use them for early veg and love them. The internodes spacing I get for my burples is far better than my 600 HID's, just when it come to flower there is no comparison. But by all means, if ya got em...smoke em :bigjoint:

Haha, thank you. So, the nice thing is that I honestly have an entire unused spare room of bedroom size I could utilize if I needed to. So space, not really an issue, but I only have three plants so I don't think I'll need to light the whole room like a tanning booth, lol. (though I could probably use a tan myself, stupid Maine winters)

Anyhow, from what I gather so far, HID lights seem popular for veg grow, and then people switch to led?

If you could choose one type of lighting for both veg and flower, led or hid, what would you choose?

P. S. Those mars lights are a good price!

Youve got it opposite. Unless you have $1000 LED's DO NOT switch from HID to LED in flower. Led in veg, and HID in flower.

I use an 600w hid for both. Mh bulb for veg , then switch to hps for flowering. I also use t5 for cloning and seedlings , but I do have a diy CFL/led that does an awesome job however it's only good for maybe 2 small plants.
