Help: 12v Cpu Fan - Power?

Hi, I took a 12v Fan out of a old computer and can anyone tell me how I should get it to run?
I mean Power wise,,,
I know it say 12v dc on it , It was hooked up to the motherboard , but what options as far as running it can I use?

well get a phone charger cord and use that what it says is what u need to convert it

thats what i used

Everbody usually has a few old phone, drill, ac adaptors laying around....check the ouput of 'em and use the one closest to `12v....My fav is remote control car battery chargers with a variable 2v-12v range which allows adjustment of fan speed....

i used my external ide hdd adapter , no need to rewire and i think i can connect up to 8 80mm fans to it , something like this just so long as its not usb powered , il throw a pic up if i can find it

Thanks, I'll use that when I hook up a few more, right now the 12v phone charger worked like a charm, so thanks all for the input!!!

I'm a bit rusty on my electric knowledge. Does the amperage output of the adapter matter, or does that just limit the number of fans you can hook to it?

I just took a ac/dc adapter. Make sure its output is 12V. Cut the very end of the cord and strip the wires. Connect the wire with the dotted white on it to the red wire of the pc fan. Connect the black wire from the adapter with no writing on it to the black fan cord. Plug it in and there ya go.

The link at the top explained it to people familiar with this stuff. im clueless.
My old cell phone charger says output: 5.0 V = 800mA
Does that mean I can't use it?
