Help a blind man grow some buds!

My friend has just lost his sight. There may be a point in the future where he regains some limited vision, but for now and for the purposes of this question he is totally blind.

As the underlying conditions behind why he has lost his sight can be helped by cannabis, and because he is a massive stoner, he wants to set up a small personal grow to maintain at home.

He has a 8 foot x 4.5 foot closet to use. I am trying to help him design and plan his first grow but need some help. I am thinking of running 2 x 1000w air cooled hood/cooltube with digital ballast.

Everything about this project needs to be considered from the point of view that my friend can't see at all, and therefore needs the easiest techniques with lowest maintenance possible.

Obviously hydro is out of the window as he can't read the ph or ec levels. So I am thinking organics is probably the way to go... but I have zero experience with this so I thought I was ask the RIU community for advice.

Any input on any aspect of the grow would be greatly appreciated. I can help him intermittently but all aspects of the day to day maintenance he needs to be handle by himself.

Cheers dudes, look forward to hearing your replies!

I think organic no till soil is good because whilst not needing much in the way of amendments you can use non ph rain water? Or at least non adjusted water. Maybe check out the forums about that for him? Good luck with the grow

Theres recipies for super soil on here, its a water only, no food recipe. Just mix up some custom soil and all he has to do is water it from start to finish. Let me find it... https://www.rollitup.org/t/2010-revised-super-soil-recipe.338384/

He doesnt have to worry about ph or anything like that. The only things he needs to monitor are temps in the room and humidity. Hell need an air conditioner and a dehumidifier, and a way to fuck with those. As far as the actual grow goes, hes going to have to learn about the poke check, checking the moisture of the growing container by poking his finger into it. And the lift test, lifting the container to check the amount of water in there by the weight of the whole container.

And somebody will have to check his trichomes using a loupe to tell when they're done.

A way around checking when to water is to just water a little a day regardless slightly upping it as it grows. It's what ive done this time around and the plants love the regular feeding.

If he gets some reliable seeds (days of flower wise) he could just wait the days out. Dynasty genetics have always been almost right on from the day of flip, to the day of chop in my experience.

Another option is just to have him feel the dirt. I can water my girls off pot weight/soil feel alone. He might need help learning the thresholds though

you could probably set it up so that someone would only have to come by once a week and help him do a few things. i guess it depends on how much independence he wants. he could figure out how to measure and mix nutes himself, but it would be a lot easier to have someone else come by once a week and check a drip system res
