Im working on my first grow from a bag seed(unkown strain)in a grow box. Im completely new to this and have almost no idea on what to do.
Im growing with cfl lights 100w 1600 lumens each, I currently have 2 and a 17w fluorescent soft white tube. theres a in take fan and out take fan. I have some Peters all purpose fertlizer for veg and flowering. I havent added any to the soil yet. My plant is at 2 weeks now and in my opinion she looks good, but I hear shes growing really slow and being new to this Im not sure how fast they should grow?

I water once or twice a week, the is 18/6
how long should I keep her on that when should I go to 12/12? when should I start feeding her? do I even need to? how young is to young to clone? how many lumens and watts does she need right now? should I water her more or less? please Id like to see her grow healthy. and tips on what I should do and what not to do?

For two weeks that is really small. i have some new seedlings that are bigger. i think you dont have enough lights or maybe the light is not close enough to the plant. but also that soil looks dry. have you read the grow faq?

I checked her water I read that it should be moist an inch down and that it is.
about how much light does she need and lumens? thanks

you probably need to add some more light or at least move the ones you have closer to get it to grow more. also when to go 12/12 is your decision, if you think its grown to the size you want then you can switch it over. Id recommend holding off on the nutes because its a bit to small at the moment and if definitely to small to be cloned.

oh btw if thats you in your avatar you have some really intense eyes

From what I am looking at its not the light. The plant isnt stretching. Also at this point the plant dosent need that much light but would def upgrade soon. Depends on how many plants you have to determine the amount of lumens that you will need. Let me know. Be careful on how much water you are adding. Only add water when the soil is dry and the pot seem light. You can start to add nuts now but would only use 1/2 strength so not to burn her.

Well theres 8 plants in the grow box, 7 are seedlings and one is in veg. I have 3 100w cfls and they each put out 1600 lumens.. and then a 17w flourcient tube. should I add more cfls or are they putting out to much lumens for them? should I start feeding her. I have some Peters all purpous plant food. it says its for veg growth and flowering.

Please dont give that little thing any nutes yet, you'd probably kill it. lol Is there perlite in the soil? Maybe the roots dont have any oxygen and feel a bit suffocated.

I think you might mean 23w cfls with 100w equivalence. You should be getting more lumens out of a 100w cfl. But anyways. Lights, lights, lights when it comes to cfl, the more the better.

Just checked the lights they are 23w.

7th1der..what is perlite and where could I get it I have no grow shops around here all I got is home depot lows and an ACE Hardware store.. could you give me some names of brands I could get at any of thos places?
p.s. money is tight...really tight

Just check the garden section of home depot or wal mart even, they're bound to have perlite :bigjoint:

you can also agitate the soil with a fork just use it to break the heavy upper layer and yea its pretty self explanitory watch out for roots!

yea you should be getting more lumens if its 100w.. i have a 29w CFL on one of my smaller plants and it gives off 2600 lumens

hey there i did my first grow with cfls and am vegging again with them, the plants need a good bit of light i have 8 plants and each one has a 42 and 26 watt cfl. as far as the nutes def. hold off until at least 3 weeks or ull have fried lil babies. you can usually start flowering anywhere from 4-8 weeks the longer u veg the more yield you will get. your plant looks healthy just a lil small id recommend adding a few more lights and maybe a small fan to thicken her up. best of luck ;0

You should be looking for about 45-60W/sq ft.

To be honest with you, your going to need a shit load of them little cfl's for 8 plants, once the plants reach any size at all you'll be looking for side lighting as well since cfl's don't penetrate the canopy very well. Your going to need about 4-5 cfl's per plant for any real results. Flowering with them will be out of the question...unless you pile about 100 of them in there. Get a 400W HPS, you'll be alot happier at flowering time.

True.

Some similar advice...not to offend girldatgrows...but by the time your plant is 5-8 weeks old it should have already reached preflowering, that means that the plant is ready to do it's thing. Alot of people force flower there plants by inducing flowering, I however don't reccomend it, as the plant is still immature, and will not produce you the best bud it could.

Listen to this guy... lol I am vegging with CFL's and have a 400w HPS on stand by for flowering. I was gonna veg with it but I need to get more CFM's to suck the hot air out of my cool tube. Should have a fan by the time I'm ready for flowering though. Keep em both working together for that consistent harvest.

You know, I never understood why people would wanna induce flowering for any other reason than lack of space. Doesn't that scare the sh!t out of the plant?
