Hydroton ebb & flow tray has algae in hydroton, but not in the 38 lit./10 gal. reservoir. Light leak has been addressed, res. flushed. Basically the ends of the tray received more light than usual & noticed algae starting to form. Doesn't seem to be affecting the plants. Water temp 20 - 22 C/ 68 - 72 F. Also Pondzyme added

How can the algae be safely removed?

I grow in a bubble bucket and had algae on my rockwool cube once and dealt with it by covering the cube and hydroton with a square of a blackout garbage bag cut to size and taped to the lid. Worked great at killing the existing algae and preventing any more.

If light is getting to the end of the tray, then that's where algae will form.

No light, no algae.

I pump up my sprayer and blast off the rocks and down the drain. I sheild my res with a piece of reflective plastic but it's kept open to breath. If the pump is set so It can't suck any thing off the bottom the crap will settle and you can get rid of it every time you dump the water. When you recycle the res water for the moms be sure that none of it gets to you moms by siphoning from the top of the res and disgarding the bottom or however. Keep the airstones off the bottom of the res as well.
