Help can you redo butter?

Did crock pot method. 1 1/4oz of leaf, bud, trim in a 1.5 quart crock pot with one pound of unsalted butter and water. Did this on low for 24 hrs. We did this in garage didn't want to stink up house. Did the straining, cooled retrieved butter. Cooked sugar cookies 350 10 minutes. No effect my question is can I reuse the butter I made and try and infuse more thc by redoing or just try new batch.

did you fully grind the trim/bud and bake/decarb it before mixing in the butter?

if not, that could be your problem.

Strange using a very similar method as happygirl ive had this problem a few times,sometimes the butter just doesnt work,other times it blows your head off.
we put skuff in the last few hours of cooking it,seems to work everytime we put that in.

did you fully grind the trim/bud and bake/decarb it before mixing in the butter?

if not, that could be your problem.
None of the above. Cut up with scissors and fresh leaves, bud. I am going to be incorporating your suggestion thanks for reply. Do you think I can use the butter I already used for the second run?

you can, but i'd just make fresh. dry the product prior to butter day, we use a small blender (think coffee bean grinder) to pulverize the dried material.

then spread evenly on a cookie sheet lined with foil and bake @ 240f in the oven for one hour. it will turn brown and smell kinda nutty. that's when you know it's ready.

after plant material cools enough to handle, mix into your (should already be prepped) clarified water and butter in the crock pot. 6-24 hours later, turn off, let cool to almost hot but easily handled without burning yourself. strain through a fine mesh or cheese cloth (a plain white cotton undershirt will work in a pinch). once most of the goo is strained, squeeze the rest from the pulp by balling up the cloth and wringing like a wash cloth. don't skip this, the best stuff is the hardest to squeeze out.

once you've gotten every possible oily drop from the pulp, put your container in the fridge to cool. in a few hours, you can remove the butter cake from the water, pat dry (we let it air dry too for about an hour before repackaging).

if your product is potent, the butter will be too. decarbing is an absolute must though. no decarb step, and you just got pot flavored cookies...

I just did this method a cple days ago and over the past few weeks and noticed if i did not decarb first in the oven the potency was just not there. Once i decarbed the potency was actually to strong. About 6 hours of stuck on the couch hallucinating. Decarbing did the trick for me. You can reuse the old batch of butter also.

I also saved the trim i strained from the first batch that wasnt potent. I put it back in with the butter and added water again. This time i heated to a higher temp. Crockpot on High for about 2 1/2 - 3 hours ( it got to about 200f). Strained again then put in fridge to seperate the butter from water. It boosted the potency back up a bit. You need a higher temp to allow the thc to bond to the fat in the butter.

You can also add xtra butter to you re recipe to try and boost potency of the product. Ex.. Insted of 1/2 cup of butter i used just shy of 1 cup. Cookies came out ok, not the best but it worked. Or find a recipe that uses more butter.

First of all let me let ya know for every 10 grams of fresh bud, you get one gram of dried. That means you basically have about 2.5 grams of plant material with active THC being even less than that in the butter you have. If I were you I'd toss it and start over. If not, you'll end up with some really gross product that will give you end results that are darker and heavier tasting than anyone would care to eat, not to mention you're not going to have any 'extra' potency for it as there is hardly any at this point.

Use dried bud (cured) to start for maximum potency and then decarb it properly to activate as much of the THC you can.

I decarb at 240F for approximately an hour by grinding my dry material then putting it in a thin layer in a 13x9 baking pan on a sheet of foil, then cover tightly with more foil to prevent air leaking out. Once the hour is up, remove it from the oven leaving it sealed and allow it to rest for about fifteen minutes or so.

While its in the oven, go ahead and throw your new butter in the crockpot with about 3 cups of boiling hot water and set on low until your herb is ready. You may need to give it a few stirs while the pot is decarbing but it will be ready by the time the decarbed material is.

Then all you have left to do is unseal, fold the bottom piece of foil to keep the bud from falling off and drop it into your butter/water, stir it well and set your time. I've had the best results ever by cooking for 12 hours till shut off, letting it cool overnight (it was bed time, couldn't stay up to finish it), then turning it back on for another 4.

Let it cool for around 30 minutes (no more or you'll have to remelt) then straining through the finest grade cheesecloth you can get your hands on. The water will cool and separate from the butter in the fridge, pull it out, ease the butter out. Discard the water and pat your butter patty dry it with lint free paper towels and voila!


you have cookies that I've been told will make a 300 pd man drop :)


P.S. btw I also use 5 sticks of butter to allow for evaporation ;)

WOW thanks a bunch I think I will try the way of the cat:peace: will keep updated. Thanks for the nice welcome. I did end up eating three cookies ( not all at once)one, then few hrs later tried two felt jittery like a coffee high.Woke up with massive headache this morning. :weed: .

Well great stuff here thanks. Yeah did reading before think just wasn't properly prepared good thing it was not bought but home grown still stinks to use 1 1/4 had good stuff in there uggggg. :sad: Thanks a bunch for info.

Since this will be only second time going to start small like 1 stick how much water. How much herb for one stick of butter? Also how much time since one stick at time not a full 24 was thinking 2_3 on low 1 1/5 quart crock pot.

Yeah, do be cautious when eating the first one. Since I myself had no way of testing thc levels or anything like that, i figured one cookie aint nothin. Well,, it was waaaay more than I or anyone i gave some to ever expected.

Dont get discouragesd, took me a few times to get things right. Decarbing is key. Good luck and best wishes.

One word darlin', chlorophyll ;)

raw wet plant material is full of it, hence the drying/decarbing.
