SOIL: Promix HP, nothing added or amended in
How long has this problem been going on? First detected discoloration on 11/18, today is 11/24. I am assuming it started a few days prior.
What STRAINs are you growing? Pot of Gold, Mr. Niceguy, Bluedream, Lemon Haze. 2 unknown bagseed
What was the establishing technique? clone
What is the age of your plants? Planted in this setup on 11/7, they were in 3.5 inch cups for 2-3 weeks old from clone before putting in this current setup.
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now? ~16 days
Were they in the same mixture when they were seedlings/smaller plant? If not, what mixture were they in before? Most were in promix; Bluedream, Mr Nice, POG. The lemon haze and bag seed was in another mixture, i forget which. Probably Black Gold Cocoblend.
How Tall are the plants? 6-12 inches. Seed plants are big 2-3 feet.
What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? Veg
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc) Vertical Scrog.
What size pots are you using? 7 plants in 8ft long 8 inches wide 12 inches tall boxes. 8 boxes. Boxes are lined with penguin poly plastic and weedmat. bagseed plants are in 2@5 gallon 1@7gallon
What brand Nutrient's are you using? House and garden. 1-component aarde 4-4-3. Thats the 1 component soil, i didn't buy it it was given to me. It is over 2 years old. Dutch master zone.
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? 20ml 1 component, 20ml zone in 15 gallon reservoir.
How often are you feeding? They have only been fed once on the 13th.
What order are you mixing your nutrients? 1 component, zone
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used? No meter
How often are you testing pH/ppm/EC/TDS? Never
How often are you watering? nov 9, 13 and 17
What size bulb are you using? 1000w MH, adding 1000w HPS after next water/feed or after troubleshooting the problem.
How old is your bulbs? Almost brand new, less than 500 hours
What is the distance to the canopy? 2-4 feet
What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity) 65%
What is the Day/Night Temp? 68-75 lights on 50-55 lights off, it has been getting colder in the night and a heater on a timer has been setup.
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) 8inch exhaust maxfan on carbon filter
Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ? Exhaust plugged into a el-500, set on the 60 side of 70/60. Intake not on right now but it is a 6 inch vortex fan.
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? 2 oscilating fans
Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist? it is feeling dry but when you mix it up you can feel some wetter soil. Some boxes are drier then others.
What water are you using?/Is your water HARD or SOFT? it comes from a spring. high in mineral content and I get a green staining on toilets/tubs and sinks. This is probably from the minerals reacting with the copper pipe and striping the copper off.
I have wanted to get an RO for some time now but don't have the $. The water system needs to be tended to before an RO is bought anyway because the high mineral content and high particulate (soil suit) would clog and eat up the RO. Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched?half the plantstrimmed/pruned and Only 1 box of MR NiceGuy has been topped
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when? Azamax drench on Nov 9
Are plant's infected with pest's? Havent seen any signs yet
Foliar fed after I noticed the discoloration. The mixture was 1 gallon atomizer, a couple mL magic green and 5 ml Humboldt Nutrients Sea Mag.
I tried to be as thorough as possible when filling out the form so hopefully questions will be limited. This discoloration is showing on many of my plants. The surprising thing is that the lemon haze is the only strain in this room that doesn't have any signs similar to the others. The symptoms are on Bluedream, Mr Nice, POG and even the 2 bagseeds (they are called bagseed because thats where they came from, but the seeds have been already flowered and these plants in this room are the clones that remain). The symptoms are even in 2 Bluemystic moms, and a bagseed clone mom in the veg room. Mr Niceguy pheno 2 and jack the ripper in the veg room do not appear to have these signs.
I have been reading a lot of people recommend Epsom Salt for mag deficiency, then read in a book not to use the for human kind. Any thoughts on this? Can Epsom salt be used as a foliar spray?
I was thinking that this is a Magnesium deficiency but I gather that it has got more than 1 thing going on. Someone just told me that Iron is overly abundant in the local spring water and that it can lock out calcium. When I had an estimate done on the water system the water guy said that he likes to add calcium to the water to neutralize it which will reduce mineral content and get the water close to 7.0pH. I don't know if those 2 last sentences make sense or contradict each other. I'm just relaying all the info that I know. I can import RO water from a friends and may have the equipment to do it but that is a lot of work, more of a hassle then hard. I would do it though if it is called for.
