It still has some time, but you want to be checking the actual bud itself, not the sugar leaves coming off of it. Those finish faster and dont give you an accurate measure to go off of.
Okay thank you also when do the caylx swell out ? I don’t know if there’s going to be much more bud development or not time will tell I guess thanks

They look like around week 5-6 and need about another 3-4 weeks, way too early to be bothering with trichs.
Thank you I thought they had around 4 weeks but my first plant looks more mature then the others so I’m just a bit lost lol

Yeah you can get variations (in maturity) if they're form seed. Key point is they need another 3-4 weeks easy. If you look at the hairs around the buds right now you have mainly white one's, some are starting to turn brown/redish and curling. Once those hairs are all brown/redish around the buds, that's when you're in the harvest window, you can check the trichs as they get closer to that level of maturity.

thats a good rule of thumb, but not always the case. I've had a couple strains that keep spitting white hairs even though all my trichomes are turning amber. Sometimes you just gotta make a judgement call.

Thank you I have a better understanding of it now there all from seed and there’s quite a few gaps were there should be bud I’m guessing it will fill out within the next 3 weeks correct me if I’m wrong but it’s what I’m hoping lol much appreciated for the feedback

For sure, there's always the odd exception, I have a couple like that, they'll throw out new/white hairs as long as you leave them. But typically only on the tops of the mains ime, in that case I look at the rest of the plant to make the call. The flip side of the exceptions is not all strains will amber so going by trich colour only has its drawbacks. I keep an eye on both towards the end but don't spend a lot of time on it, there's a point at which I just look at a plant and know it's ready to harvest, that's when I pull it. In this particular case, based on the plants/pics posted, they have 3-4 weeks to go imo, regardless of what colour the trichs are at this stage.

I agree with you 100%. There's always exceptions to guideline rules. I was not aware that some strains will never amber, however. That is interesting. Any idea why? yup, once you've done this a few times you just know what to look for!

No idea why some won't amber, some folks claim it's breeding. Don't really concern myself with amber or not, just that it looks ready overall. I find most that "look" mature typically have mainly cloudy with the odd ambers, mostly down lower on the plant. There's exceptions on both ends of the spectrum. I have one CBD cross that starts throwing ambers on the lowers around 5-6 weeks into flowering but it's not ready/fully matured until around 7 weeks.

I'm starting to see more and more of these awesome 7 week strains and pheno's popping up lately. I need to check some of them out!
