I put seeds into water a few days ago....Within the first day they cracked open and i can see the white from the root. Its not officially hanging out of the seed yet but would it be alright for me to plant it? I was going to wait for the root to actually come out but i didnt think it would be good for the seed to stay in the water. How long can it stay in the water without it drowning and killing the seed?

You need to plant them now. You shouldnt leave them in water like that for more than 24 hours.

first get a paper towel wet and then gently ring it out. fold the towel in half twice (so you end up with a square) place the seeds in between the layers of the paper towel and leave them there until the root is as long as a finger nail (give or take) then plant. also if the paper towel starts to dry off lightly mist it with a sprayer. good luck
