so i put my seeds in water for 18 hours the both sank to bottom i put them in paper towel one showes sign of tap root other dosent 6 days later same stage 1 has small tap root still in same spot other still hasnt poped i spent 60$ for 5 on these seeds on ilovegrowingmarijauna.com
to germinate i used paper towel method which worked quikly my first grow but now my since i bought seeds instead of random bag ones this time its stuck in time i have the paper towel moist in a baggie i poured glass of water on paper towel and i squeezd it a little with my hands to get excess water off and only leaving it moistend have it between 2 plates in baggie

Sounds like you did everything right, i you want them to stay warm and humind so i would deff not give up on the one that has cracked, you could give it another couple days on the other,

Ya paper towel isnt the easiest in that its easy but more easier to fuck up, if these are 6 days old they are rotted and have slim to none chance of finishing germination.

Learn your method better or change to poppin em in soil and get 100% germination 90% of the time :-)

There is no way to know how old seeds are or how well they were stored when you order them from a website. I've tried the more popular seed banks in the world (attitude, single seed center, MWS) and found that even they sell dead ass seeds. It wasn't until I started
a) ordering seeds from reputable breeders directly
b) breeding my own seeds
that I got a full 100% germinating rate.
I also agree with Kingrow in that it's much easier to simply drop the seed into a cup of soil than it is to fuck around with the glass of water and/or paper towel methods. I germinate in solo or yogurt cups full of recycled soil and place them into a heated seed mat with a ziplock baggie draped over the top. Seeds usually pop off within a few days...
Check out the Canna Genetics Bank; I know they carry fresh stock: https://www.cannageneticsbank.com/
Bag seeds have not been sitting around that long because most growers push product out the door as soon as it's ready. Order some regular seeds and cross pollinate them to have an endless supply of fresh seed stock. Will save you lots of cash in the future.
