YES... i know i went on a sudden hiatus, but i was so pissed off from my first AG crop, i just didnt have the strengh to work up another journal until i see some vaginas in my AG.

Well.. so far so bad....:-|

in a sense....

I have 5 plants growing in my AG. 2 sets of Yspiters with one 40 warm cfl, and one 28 watt cool cfl in each...

2 airstones, and im using the AG nutes...

I started growing about 4 weeks ago, and induced flowering at about 2 1/2 weeks... My last crop i had 3 plants 3 males, so i wanted to get a jump on what the sex was early...

Let me get to the point...

I have five plants actively growing in my AG, so you can imagine what the roots are looking like in the rez. YEP.. You guessed it... BEASTY... healthy as an ox, but all tangled together...

so, naturally ive cam to the point where i can identify the tallest plant as a male.... i want to pluck it fast to make room in the rez, and to get more light to the others... how would i go about cutting down the male, without fucking up the other roots that are tangled with the others?

Heres a few pics.. the one farthest left is the male... i can see little tiny balls right by where the nodes and fan leaves meet the at the stem...

The one in the middle and far right look like winners... still no white hairs yet tho... whats taking so long !? Outta five plants i better get at least one lady!

I had to do the same thing. Just gently pull the plant out of the rez. You will get a few roots from the other plants. But it turned out just fine the other plants were ok.

Thats what i was thinking...

sooooooo...

i cut the bloody thing down yesterday....

Even as a male it stunk so good, and hurt so bad to chop it down...

But its for the good of the colony...

I have to change the water today, so I'm gonna give that a shot

thanks

i just read up on this stuff hygrozyme.

it is expensive but from all the reviews and what i have read on here it is supposed to be amazing.

i checked it out at my local hydro store, worms way, and this product got a 5 out of 5 review from all who used it.

supposedly you just need to cut down the male as low as possible and then add this stuff. as your male roots die, it will eat/dissolve the dead material and actually help to feed your remaining plants, if i remember correctly.

i gonna go check it out again to be sure but you wont have to worry about untangling the roots.

if i wrong i be right back with correct info....or i may get stuck on porn.....come find me if not here in 10 minutes.....

right from the web page:

Great for hydro or soil-based systems, Hygrozyme prevents the formation of pythium and algae in your growing media. Bacteria-free enzymes attack dead plant proteins and convert them into usable sugars. All-natural Hygrozyme is 100% effective guaranteed with an unlimited shelf life. Nothing beats it!

dont do it!!! .... use the hydrozene I bought a 1/2 lt (500ml) for around $20 and I had to get rid of 8 males over a 1 week period I left all the root balls in and that stuff took care of it and they were massive root balls

you need to check your info.

i just googled hydrozene and found some nasty info.

here is an excerpt:

actually Hydrozene can be very dangerous, my husband worked with it for years, and may again after we leave this base, its used in F16s and is very volatile, it is also a known cancer causing agent, in fact the soldiers who work with hydrozene get hazard pay.

not sure why you would use this or maybe you are confusing it with something else?

where do you get it?

a reference to an old mathew broderick movie.

any how, i checked "hydrozene" and got that info.(in my previous post)

i think hygrozyme was from worms way and that is on their web site.

**********************************************************
after reviewing the posts i see that I misread beach bums posts.
he actually states it twice.

"BeachBum420 After u remove ur boys add Hygrozene to the res and it will take care of unwanted roots before they rot ur good roots"

"BeachBum420 dont do it!!! .... use the hydrozene I bought a 1/2 lt (500ml) for around $20 and I had to get rid of 8 males over a 1 week period I left all the root balls in and that stuff took care of it and they were massive root balls"

So i did a search on "hyGROzene" and got nothing. so for now i am pretty sure beach bum meant HYGROZYME.

i would recommend this.

this is a problem that i have seen in a few grow sites. Hydro and aeroponic systems are for growing clones not seed where you know all the plants are female the exception to this is the use of feminized seeds which we all know hermie.
when i buy seeds i always get the best and grow the seeds in separate pots which i number from these i take a few clones which i root in rockwool cubes these are numbered also. The pot plants are then flowered and the males taken out and disposed of the clones corresponding to them are also disposed of the rest grown to harvest. The clones that are left are all female which are then put in the flowering cupboard all except one of each of which i will keep one and grow as a mother this will be the best which will be as soon as i have a smoke of the the ones grown in the pots therefore i have a constant supply of top notch female clones ready to flower off.
Plants i have grown :- Durban poison, Nebula, Belladonna,Durga matra, AK47, White Widow, Great White Shark, G13, Power Plant, Western winds which is my latest, my next in a couple of months will be the Cheese although they will be clones from a grower pal. I have grown from feminized and will never use these again even the slightest of stress causes hermies.

:o You know Donny...

That makes a WHOLE lot of fuckin sense....

And im not being a smart ass, dont get the wrong idea, but i just never thought of it like that... If i would have just grown some seeds in like 6 soil pots, i would have AT LEAST have gotten 2 females, and i could have just cut the best clones and went from there.....

damn...

well, we live and we learn, no point in crying over spilled nutrients...

BACK TO THIS "HYGROZYME"

I guess you all can see why i was about to just tear the roots apart... when i researched this "HYGROZENE" i got nothing... i researched "HYDROZENE" and that was waay off...

HYGROZYME sounds like my best bet.. imma go up to the store ina few and pick up a bottle.... 36.99 for a friggin qt. Hopefully they'll have a smaller size

ill keep ya posted

Aw c'mon - Ferris Bueler's Day Off - it's a classic, dude!!!

Anyway, I just posted to a thread about my experience with Hygrozyme https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/64654-hygrozyme.html; here's what I wrote...

Okay, so it's been 4 days and my plants didn't miss a beat! I am ready to swear by this stuff!!!

I made a real mess of the roots too, trying to detangle them; but they didn't seem to care. There was no wilting or yellowing - they just kept on doing their thing! If anything, they are even more vibrate now!!!

If anyone is having issues with their roots or are switching from DWC to anything else and are worry about what will happen with the root ball - Don't - this stuff will save your ass!

:peace:
WWW

Use this stuff and don't even worry about the task at hand, detangling your roots won't even be a problem - just do it and use Hygrozyme!
