spray the ladybugs with a sugar solution and it glues their wings shut, i use captain jacks deadbug brew with spinosad(+ a spreader sticker wetting agent), and it took care of my mite problem. It's a systemic spray so it really fucks them up. A simple application of molasses spray later will dissolve the spinosad into harmless sugars.
I rotate the spinosad with mighty bomb, which is a mint-type spray used to smother mother mites. When i apply i let the room get warm, like 90, then wait a couple minutes, shut lights and fans off, prespray with water to slowdown water uptake in the plant and give water if needed. A few minutes later I apply to every square inch of the plants undersides as I take them out of the growroom. once theyre all out in a bunch i do a mist-over the tops of all the plants, throughout this process trying not to get the stuff in the soil (tipping the plant a lil while spraying)
I have no citable evidence but people say reducing temps slows down the mites; so i feel if you warm up the area it will make them more active, eggs hatch, so on so on. Now that we spray them they all get suffocated and die. You dont want it too warm though as it will make the plant suck up the water from the pesticide and make it less effective
I think cold will make them more dormant and increase chances of a second attack
now i make a bleach spray which we clean out the growroom, every square inch. I even spray the reflector and under the mylar in my room, and vacuum and put carpet cleaner down there, an egg could be hidden anywhere.
a few days later i rinse the leaves to clear up any residues.
and i re-apply 1-2 weeks later.
