Help me decide..+rep

Okay im at a crossroads Im currently growing with CFL's but i want to get a (150-400)hps/mh converstion.

Im wondering what would be good for around 5 plants, but id like to setup some sort of SoG going so i could harvest every so often.

Venting the heat would be an issue so what would you suggest.

i have kali mist, BCKUSH, skunk #1 and big BANG
I understand the kali mist takes considerable more amount of time.
any suggestions would be good.:eyesmoke:

Let me know what you guys think.

If heat is a problem consider T5 HO fixtures. They are cooler but more intense than cfls. More lumens per watt. And they can be close to the foliage. Sort of a best of both between cfls and hps. They grow like crazy in veg and flower, just change bulbs from mostly blue in veg to mostly red in flower.

for about $100 you can get a build your own 400watt hps kit from ebay and then buy a pyrex bake a round glass tube for about $20. and with that you could ad a fan and some ducting and whamo you have a air cooled 400w light . i did this and just use cfls for veg , very affective and cost saving.

i'll google that ive never heard of them. thanks

and heres a pic of my current op. a bit slapped together looking but im trying my best and trying new things

four five plants of the size you want I think a 400 watt. However there is a bit of heat, but that is not ver hard if you pull out the heat with a big enough fan. Right now I a not using a hood at all just a big inline fan and the duct next to the bulb. THis is a 600 in a 4x4x6 tent. Make sure yu dont let the heat build up in the top of the area at all, cuz it will make a big deal.

looks like enough to keep that small plant growing well, but youll have to rethink your setup the closer you get to the flowering stage

also that set up looks a bit like a fire trap, look into making that safer...

yea i had a tuff time coming up with something that would block some of the light . so i have it mostly enclosed, i have a few lights hanging so i cant totally enclose it. I am worried about fires i want to put a smoke detector near it, but id like to perfect my setup first.

dude it should be fine. a 600w is a investment for the future. you really need to only worry about heat when your working witha 1000W and i guess it matter where your location is too. keep me posted how your grow goes and GOOD LUCK AMIGO

im leaning towards 150-400 hps but i need to look into trusted sellers and a good price. id like one that could be used with MH bulbs.

go with the 400w hps well worth it, lot more heat then the cfls but well worth it. get a small fan to pull the air out you'll be good to go. depending on what size room you have the bigger the room the bigger the fan needed.

go with a 600! i know that's not one of your options but it's honestly not that much more expensive, you will get more bang for you buck, and it shouldn't be too much harder to keep cool than a 400

this is a 600w hps with 6" a/c fittings and comes with the bulb as well as tempered glass.. it's 275 and probably a little over 300 shipped, im sure there are better deals but this is just one of them...

if your grow is just out in the open off in a corner of a spare room you would most likely not heat issues. If its enclosed at all like a closet or a tent your will need a vented hood with a good exhaust fan. I have a 400 in a tent with vented hood and I jusd added carbon filtration and my temps dont get over 80. Take a look I hope you like.
