Okay so alittle description of my set up. I have a spartan series 8 light controller box that you have to get an external timer for. The timer is the apollo 8 24hr timer and I only have the lower outlets on the light controller box plugged into the timer (there are two cords coming from the light controller box to plug into a timer) I am only using three lights right now so i only have one of the cords plugged into the timer. The ballasts are all nanolux cube 1000w, The bulbs are all 1000watt hps (brand either hortilux or sunfire), with 8inch vented light hoods. the problem is one of the lights always the same one wont turn on with the rest only sometimes(but most of the time). When I would find the bulb off, the ballast would be on and seem to be working, I would unplug the light from the light controller box wait 10min and plug it back in. Most of the times it would turn right on sometimes I would have to do it a couple times before it would turn on. Then it would stay on until lights out but then when the lights would cycle back on the same light sometimes wont turn on with the rest. I have switched the ballast still the same problem always the same light. I bought a new bulb but it still dosnt turn on with the rest only sometimes. I have switched the outlet it was plugged into multiples times. But still most of the time the same light wont turn on with the rest. I am so confused! I cant figure it out! Could it be the light hood that is messed up? With me switching everything around, the ballasts, the bulb, the outlets and it still always being the same light not turning on with the rest I just cant figure out what the problem could be?
Thank you for any and all help I would really appreciate it!

Since you switched it all around, there is only the cable-to-hood and the bulb-socket in the hood left.

Maybe there is somewhere a slight contact problem. Or corrosion in the socket?

I think you must be right I really hope, that's the only thing left that it could be. Unless anyone has any other ideas I will just buy a new light hood as I need more anyways. I will switch the one that has been consistently not lighting up with a new hood and if it fixes the problem then I know the old hood is faulty. Thank you for the replies. I will update this once I have determined what the source of the problem was.

Easy enough to check the hood for a bad connection so I'd do that first. I'd suspect the ballast over anything. A weak diode or capacitor in the ballast may be the problem which means its now a doorstop as digitals generally cannot be fixed unlike my 30 year old magnetics that just keep growing good bud year after year. A buddy recently gave me a dead 400W HPS ballast and $25 later for a new capacitor I have a 3rd 400. Bulbs last way longer with them too and I'm still using a 16 year old Hortilux conversion bulb that gives me MH light off an HPS ballast. I'm running a new 1000W, 940 actually, Hortilux conversion bulb off my MH ballast and if it lasts half as long I'll be a happy camper. Spare me the worsening light arguments as they age. I'm well aware of that but choose to say fuggit as long as they keep growing good bud which they do. :)

:peace:

The nanolux cube doesn't flash an error number through the power/dimming led?
