Help me get my grow under control / BOHDI GENETICS

Today is day 51 and here are pictures from today. I adjusted the PH. I took down the N as well. The room is around 75 with light on with a humidity of 39%. I appreciate all the replies and thank all of you for helping me along my first grow. This strain is Granola Funk or GSCxWookie. How far do you guys think they have? How do they look?

Thanks! Tips + Comments always welcome :)

Stop even thinking about advanced growing techniques. You're going to fuck everything up.

Just top them once, and that's it. Let them grow. Don't over feed them and you'll be fine. Less is more. Don't overthink it.

Get at least 3 grows under your belt before you go off the deep end will all the bullshit. That's the biggest mistake people make: they read the bullshit on this forum, go all in, and wind up with a complete disaster on their hands.

>potting down

Never do this. Just be patient and your plant will thank you. Even if you've given the roots more room than they technically need, the only drawback is slightly retarded growth rate while the roots stretch out. No big deal.

>trimming under the canopy
You don't have a canopy yet. there's basically almost no reason to defoliate ever unless you're scrogging.

You definitely topped too early. Personally, I never top before the 7th node/8" tall, whichever comes first. That's actual inches, not penis inches.

Other than that, just keep on keeping on, maybe pH down closer to 6.0. Patience is your friend.you now have some smaller plants to practice patience on, and you'll be able to see them compared to the ones you got a little helicopter-y on.

I attached a pic of my next round of plants, the shortest literally just got topped today, the tallest only 4 days ago, for reference.
I agree on everything you are saying, I have also noticed the leaves are really shiny and curled down on the margins which to me says that they are fed too much nitrogen. I like like a PH of 5.8 for coco as that is the optimal number for nitrogen uptake...then when after I flip and the plants stop stretching I put the ph up to 6-6.1.

First of all, I would like to thank you guys for responding and being so helpful. I really appreciate the great advice given here.

UPDATE: These are two days after fimming/cleaning them up some. They popped back up because I also low stress trained them too. I have plenty of room in my tent as well but I am concerned wit the stretching that you guys mentioned.

My Questions: Due to current height and the fact I just trained them, I would need to start flowering fairly soon. Is there anyway to just cut them back slightly and add netting into the tent (which can be done on the poles since the grow is in progress with zip ties) and focus on getting more yield at this point? I guess ultimately my question is if you were in my shoes and you wanted to delay these and get them bushier for more yield what would you do?

Thanks guys! I think my next grow I will do a journal :).

They look really good. I just came across your thread. You've probably sorted out the pH issue by now. But I was just curious what you were checking it with. Where you said rootzone pH we're you using a soil pH probe? I ask because I'm doing my first grow as well. I bought a cheap 3 in 1 pH/moisture/light meter. I also have a pH pen that I calibrate every couple days to check the water in my res. My water going in and coming out stays on point between 5.5 and 5.9. But if I put that probe in the promix it reads 8 Everytime. I think they are junk because I'm definitely not having pH issues. So if you were using one of those maybe your ph was good all along.

I had some ph issues for sure. I do believe you are correct that 3 way thing sucks. I got one of those. Anyone recommend a good PH tester for soil?

I am hanging them up inside the tent. It's fairly low humidity as well with the carbon filter going. Should I pull them off the stems or keep them on and hang them up?

I am a novice but I am also in school for this. I just wanted to go with the flow of information from both environments. I agree though, I wish I had planned those toppings better.

I have hit the 60 day mark in flowering. What do you guys think? I tried to include pictures to help you decide whether or not they are ready for harvest. Yes, I am aware of the trichome method. I am interested in hearing your opinions because you guys have helped a lot along the way. Please feel free to comment!

Thank you!

I use a blue labs meter 24 hour monitor. It's good quality you don't have to calibrate it often. I think their pens go for 140 Canadian dollars. I've done the whole cheapo Amazon thing and they just break easy/often. Get what you pay for in life it seems.

Your plants look really good btw I want to smoke some. Jealous of your bodhi gear...thats next on my list. Right now I have some stuff from DNA, thugpug and oni seed co.

Yah, I went cheap on tools but went all out on lights, tent, carbon filter. I will need to purchase one. Thank you!

Also @Thai_Lights thank you!

So, based on pictures does anyone think it's time to cut? I have each plant labeled above. Thanks for the great advice guys and the encouragement. I am doing a new post soon for my second grow. Please look out for that in the near future, I will be asking further advice and making things a lot more efficient this go around.

Thank you,

Syd

Have you done any Home work on Drying/Curing? Plants look Great! If you're comfortable with the Trikes... Cutt'em!

@SydneyGirl12 i prefer to leave them on the stems for the first few days but remove all fan leaves and most of the sugar leaves. drying is very dependent on your personal environment -- check out the curing section because you don't want them to get too dry before you put your harvest into jars to start the cure.

regarding your harvest: you could easily let them go another week and then chop; however, since this is your first harvest (and especially if you will be growing this strain again), i would suggest you cut some now and then in a week to see what you personally like regarding the smoke/high.

if you're growing in soil, i wouldn't worry about PH. if you maintain a healthy soil and water regularly and let the soil dry out regularly, you should be good. check out the organics section a bit.

congratulations on your successful first grow! :leaf: bongsmilie

@SydneyGirl12 this is good advice. PH shouldn't be an issue in good soil, it should self buffer. Just PH most nutrients to mid 6s. Sometimes you don't need to PH depending on the fert, such as fish fert which goes in around 4.5-5.

Lets see some dried bud pics and a smoke report!
I will. So far the Purple Kush is damn good unless this Granola Funk has a known purple phenotype. Anyways, I am concerned because the purple buds seem to be great but the GSCxWookie isn't that great. It's very sticky though! Both have shit tons of trichomes. I hope the curing process gets the excess H2O out so that the THC can be more concentrated. I really expected a lot from Bohdi seeds due to the hype and feel my grow was above average even thoufh I am considered a novice but schooling and intuition are my strengths.
