Bubba Breath

Okay so I have two about 2 foot plants and 2 four foot plants. They were all given to me yesterday. So that is why the grow room is looking janky, it's not finished. What I am wondering is, how often should I water these? Like 1/4 water bottle every 24 hours for the small ones, half for the big ones? Please help as I want these to produce quality bud, also, I can't find anything about bubbas breath online and its looking the healthiest to me, any info on that anyone? You can see I have a big black fan blowing on the plants 24/7 as well as a small desk fan blowing on the large and small trainwreck plants. I spray the branches and leaves every few hours with water as well. I just really need to know how often to water them exactly. My friend says often less but more often than I am now, which isn't very explanatory. I have never grown before. Please help, thanks!bongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmiliebongsmilie

It really depends on several factors that no one can tell you how often. The best thing to do is judge it by weight. Water a plant and test how heavy the pot is. Don't water again until pot is significantly lighter. If you don't want to do that, another less reliable method is to stick your finger into the soil till at least the 2nd knuckle if not further, being careful if you hit roots. If you don't feel moisture, water.

Then again, if you check on the plants daily, you will definitely see when they need water when they start to droop. You can then water and the plant will perk up within 15 minutes usually. But if you do the above, it should not get to that point.

When you do water, use enough to get run-off.

Oh, and stop wasting time spraying the leaves. It can actually do more harm.

like brotherjericho said. weight is the best method for watering. Wait until the plant starts to droop a little and pick up the pot, notice how it feels like it's full of styro-foam? Now after you water it (watering each plant enough until you get some run off coming out of the bottom of the pot), feel how heavy it is. Now you should know what your plant feels like when it needs water and when it is fine. Try not to let them get droopy too often though, you should be able to tell when they need water after a few waterings.

I see, should I only spray branches and stems then? Or not at all....
And as for the weight method, I have a small digital scale....do you think i could put it on that when they look droopy, then weigh it, and see what the weight is, then just water when it gets close to the droopy weight and ill know when its done when it gets to the weight i had with the previous watering...yeah?

Do you think the plants are looking droopy as of right now? I havent watered since yesterday at 4pm ( USA West Coast California Time )

It really depends on lighting used, circulation, temperature, relative humidity, type of medium, container...for instance, I use 3 gal fabric pots filled with my own mix of peat moss, compost, perlite, and vermiculite. I use LED and CMH lighting for flower, PLLs (fluorescent) for veg. and have fans constantly blowing on my plants. My grows reach about 80-84 F and 40-50% humidity, and I find that I only have to water every 4-5 days for mature plants (well over 30 days). My mature plants are all around 2-2.5'.

I started by using the finger method, then moved on to the weigh method. It has worked out well.

As to weighing them on scales, sure, you could try that, but it will get tedious. Just heft them, you will soon learn the difference between a pot that needs water and one that does not.

As to spraying, it is typically not necessary unless you are trying to foliar feed some nutrient in between waterings. Spraying them often can lead to several issues, mold being one if the growth is dense enough.

Grow isnt very dense at all, not sure if you checked out my pics?

I will do the watering method you provided by weighing them by hand, thank you!

Ill try to make it simple... since there in big pot.... im guessing 1 to 2 gallons, more like 1..
Id letem bone dry out almost compleatly..
Youre plants will tell u when there hungry ... they can raise theire leaves high or drop ..
Thats a sure sign there hungry ...
Youll notice fastly if your overwatering them ...they dropp more often and look odd in the leaves..
Best thing dont feed them much .. in those pots you probly want to atleast wait a couple days in between watering..
Depending on how fast they drink... youl know the pot will be real light almost dry ...
And when u water them go ahead and compleatly pour enuff water till it soaked..

Remember ..eveytime u water them your essentially feeding them depending on what in your soil...
So only feed them 2 to 3 times a week.... thats a good diet... once there bigger more like every other day depending on pot size...

Please feel free to comment on how the plants are looking as well, I believe the bubba breath looks great atm. It is mostly sativa which you can tell pretty much by just looking at the leaves, and you can see some like 3-4 big fat leaves on it. Same with the purple thai and trainwreck.

if you notice the plants are really droopy a lot and the leafs are kinda waxy looking it's time to back off how often you are watering. you'll be surprised how long they go with out water depending on your set up

Hey guys, all the equipment arrived yesterday and after 12 straight hours of tedious work using only a hand saw and a hammer, the room is finished. It is looking amazing and the plants are responding well to the new lights, I switched from an 80W floro to a 600W hps. The grow box is 4x4x6 and has a fan suspended next to the light directly above the plants, it is pretty powerful and is ment to be a stand up oscilating fan with 3 speeds, I broke off the bottom attached some screws to the bottom and top of it, put it sideways and hung it up with some rope. I also have an oscilating small white desk fan that cools the light down significantly and keeps the plants blowing as if in the wind :D

Got the whole thing built with some wood that I forgot what it is called sorry really high, its stronger than plywood, we used that for the floor and some plywood for the ceiling and walls, as for the support we have 4 thick wooden support beams that came off of an old house(these things were hard as hell to cut to size with a hand saw!) Conveniently the house neighboring mine is in the process of being built, so I "borrowed" some 2x4's and some huge nails(needed ones big enough to go through the support beams into the plywood. Also please take into consideration this build was very hard, we had to build it while inside the grow room, and the door is about 4 feet tall and maybe 3 feet wide, so we had to drag all the materials inside and construct it in there, the grow room is probably about 8 feet in height and 4 feet in width as well as 8 feet in length. So it was very cramped and we had to nail the support beams to the plywood instead of the plywood to the support beams. The whole thing is lined and sealed with 1 mil thick reflective mylar. I've also cloned the bubba breath, purple thai, and trainwreck and have them all going in a dwc hydroponics setup under an 80W floro for now and when they get big enough I will move to a 400W MH. I finally gave the plants some nutrients after them being w/o for a week or two. We are heavy feeding the flowering nutrients for a week or two then lowering it to the regular feeding and doing it every other watering.

your friend is wrong. there is no answer to "how often." they are plants, and sometimes they drink more, sometimes less. water by weight of pot. that is the best way, imo. when pot feels light.......water.
damn, i just went down and they were light as a feather! i can now definitely tell how much water i need for all of them and how often, thank you!

I guess i need to water everyday
