Yo RIU. I've started using soil (Foxfarm ocean forest) for my newest grow and have a few questions on PH:
When I mix food, the water (2.5g jugs from the grocery store, not distilled) I'm using is around 7 but when I add food and cal/mag it goes to about 4.6 and requires a few drops of UP, this has been consistent on all my mixes. This sound normal?
What's a good way to test the soil itself, are probe-based meters in the $100-$200 a good way to go? I've seen small dollar capsule/mix kits for soil, but something low maint/ease of use is more important to me than saving a few dollars.
Do the plants require and flushing during the grow? I used to run clear-ex in my Hydro system everytime I changed out my res.
Are the traditional methods of modifying PH such as dolomite/lemon juice reliable?
Really looking forward to not having to maintain my hydro kit anymore but not all that confident on how to garden with soil, they're only 3 weeks old and look great so wanna keep on track.
TIA!
