Help.... plants are stretching

I have the light almost 12 inches away is that my problem??? one of the stems already snapped also... is there anything i can do or is it r.i.p.

its just a regular florescent light from walmart .. should i just be using cfl's.. my first grow

You should use a light with the blue spectrum for vegging... Im not familiar with a floresent light..... is that cfl or one of those long tubes.....if there is not heat issue then I would suggest dropping that light to 6 in above the tops to slow the stretching

EDIT: you can grow with any light source or bulb... but it you want a perfect grow then certain lights and bulbs are recommend for veg adn flowering

you can put those 1 inch over the top of your girls. for now you need to steak them up so there are no more causeties;stay safe good luck

Also put a fan on them with a small slow breeze.. this will help there stems strengthen up so they can support there tall structure.. it will help them to not break in half once they get bigger

thanks for all the replies i have moved the light closer to the plants and raised the soil so the plants r shorter and more stable

how did those ff nutes work for u cause i have ff soil and i was considering those nutes
