hell yeah... i would do the same damn thing.. i do when it comes to buying shit n it blows or dont work right...:mrgreen:

Lowes is very good on returns as long as you have the receipt no problem.

Did the socket you had that in have a reflector around it that restricted the airflow to the built in ballast in the base of the bulb. Like the home depot clip on reflectors? Many bulbs are not rated to run at those kind of temperatures and will continue to fail in anything that restricts airflow around the bulbs. It says so right on the package what ambient temperature it can handle.

Yes you can plug any of those little cfl's in an socket/outlet adapter thingy.

I just looked at my lamp, and that, sir, is the problem.
My lightbulb blew for that exact reason.
Good thing is, I have a receipt to return it. And those adapters aren't expensive at all, Thats a plus.

Is it necessary to use an HPS for flowering, or can I flower under a 42w CFL?
I don't have room, or money to buy an HPS or a ballast.
